This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Furness Veterinary Centre Ltd, helping local users in the England region of the United Kingdom learn more about this vital resource for their beloved animals. We will delve into their convenient location, the comprehensive range of services they offer, the distinctive features that set them apart, and ultimately, why they are so perfectly suited to meet the diverse veterinary needs of the local community.
Furness Veterinary Centre Ltd is centrally located at 131 Market St, Dalton-in-Furness LA15 8RG, UK. This position on Dalton-in-Furness's main thoroughfare makes it highly accessible for residents of the town and surrounding areas.
Accessibility is a key advantage for pet owners. The practice offers dedicated customer parking to the rear, off Slater Street, alleviating common concerns about finding a spot. Should this be full, the Tudor Square car park is conveniently located just 200 metres away and is free of charge. For those relying on public transport, the Tudor Square bus stop is only a short walk, and Dalton train station is a mere five-minute stroll across town. This multi-modal accessibility ensures that bringing your pet for an appointment, whether routine or urgent, is as convenient and stress-free as possible. The current location, while well-situated, has been noted in public records for potential future expansion to a new site at 100-104 Market Street, indicating a commitment to growing capacity and further enhancing client and patient facilities, including improved parking, which would be a welcome development for the local community.

- Truly Independent Practice: As an independent, family-owned veterinary centre, established by husband and wife team Rob and Claire, it prides itself on a personal touch and a focus on community needs, rather than corporate directives. This independence is often seen as a significant advantage by pet owners.
- Dedicated 24-Hour Care: A major highlight is their provision of in-house, 24-hour emergency care for registered clients. This means pets are always seen by a vet from Furness Vets, eliminating the need to travel to an unfamiliar out-of-hours provider or see an unknown vet. This offers immense peace of mind.
- Highly Invested in Equipment and Expertise: The practice consistently invests in its theatre and diagnostic equipment, ensuring patients receive the best care. Furthermore, senior surgeon Rob's post-graduate training in advanced surgeries like TPLO (Cruciate Disease surgery) means complex procedures can be performed locally.
- Compassionate and Client-Focused Team: Reviews consistently laud the "amazing staff" who "care about your young and oldest best friends." Their dedication is evident in how they were "totally invested" in a holidaying dog's recovery, going "above and beyond."
- Fair and Transparent Pricing: Clients appreciate that the practice does "not always charge you for the visit if it's just a short health check." This approach, where it's "Business but also not only business," fosters trust and demonstrates a genuine commitment to animal welfare over profit alone. This transparency and fairness are highly valued.
- Experienced and Supportive Nurses: The veterinary surgeons are closely supported by a team of experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) who have done further training in anaesthesia, contributing to patient safety during procedures. Their nurse clinics also provide valuable support for routine care and owner education.
- Community Roots: Founded by a couple who moved back to Claire's home in South Cumbria, the practice has strong local ties and a clear commitment to serving the community.

Furness Veterinary Centre Ltd Reviews
On holiday last year our dog became extremely poorly. Rob and his team did everything in their power to ensure that we were able to take him home at the end of our holiday. Every one there was totally invested in his recovery. We visited several time in our two week holiday and it was not expensive for all of the tests and treatments he had .
Jul 04, 2025 · F BarehamAmazing staff, they care about your young and oldest best friends. You will love it. Also they do not always charge you for the visit if it's just a short health check. Already happened to me twice and I much appreciate it. Business but also not only business. Love it and you will too.
Mar 17, 2025 · Sebastian GabrysCalled out this time last week (7pm on a saturday night) for a very poorly and lethargic cat. Vet met me at the surgery within 20 minutes and drained a big abcess on the cats head. Gave him antibiotics and was kind and caring throughout. Cat is much better despite his poor shaved head.
May 31, 2025 · Michelle BamberIncredibly kind and understanding vets. Great for routine appointments and for emergencies. Can't praise them enough for their caring work.
Feb 21, 2025 · James OliverFantastic vets, went above and beyond for my little lady who had kidney failure, and are giving superb care to my pup, would 100% recommend them.
