SimplyCats Vet Clinic Introduce
For cat owners across Houghton le Spring, Durham, Sunderland, and the wider North East of England, SimplyCats Vet Clinic offers a truly unique and specialised approach to veterinary care. This practice distinguishes itself as the region's first and only exclusively feline veterinary clinic, a concept born from a deep understanding of cats' sensitive nature and their specific needs. Founded in 2009 by Dr. Sarah Middleton and Dr. Paul Proctor, SimplyCats was meticulously designed from the ground up to create a calm, stress-free environment where cats can feel comfortable and relaxed, free from the unsettling sights, sounds, and smells of dogs. This dedication to feline well-being has earned them the prestigious Gold Standard accreditation from the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM), the highest possible accolade for cat-friendly clinics. Beyond the tranquil surroundings, SimplyCats boasts a team of "cat-crazy" professionals who are not only highly trained in feline medicine but are often multiple cat owners themselves, bringing a personal passion to their professional expertise. They offer extended 30-minute consultations, allowing ample time for thorough examinations, detailed discussions, and for cats to acclimatise to their surroundings. This thoughtful, comprehensive, and cat-centric approach ensures that every feline patient receives the very best medical and surgical care, making SimplyCats Vet Clinic an invaluable and highly recommended resource for discerning cat owners in the UK.
SimplyCats Vet Clinic is conveniently located at 12 Front Street, Fence Houses, Houghton le Spring, DH4 6LP, UK. This address places it within a well-known area, making it accessible for cat owners not only from Fence Houses itself but also from the broader Houghton le Spring area, Durham, Sunderland, and other surrounding communities in Tyne and Wear and County Durham. Front Street is typically a main thoroughfare, ensuring the clinic is easy to find. While specific parking details for the clinic's immediate vicinity would need to be checked on-site, Front Street in residential areas often offers on-street parking or nearby public parking options. For those utilising public transport, bus routes serving Fence Houses would likely have stops within walking distance of the clinic. The practice's unique selling point as a feline-only clinic also contributes to its accessibility in a different sense: by removing the potential stress factors associated with dogs in a general vet waiting room, it inherently becomes more accessible and comfortable for anxious cats and their owners. The clinic is typically open Monday to Friday, with specific hours, making it easy for locals to schedule appointments during regular working weeks. This central and purpose-built location underscores SimplyCats' commitment to providing convenient and stress-free care for feline patients in the heart of the North East.

SimplyCats Vet Clinic Reviews
It is such a shame that Michelle is no longer at simplycats. She was the nicest and most dedicated vet that helped save our cat’s life when another vet tried to push us to euthanise him. He's still alive 2 years later! Honestly, she was the only reason me and my partner kept going back to simplycats. Unfortunately, the vets/nurses that are left don't seem to give the same amount of care at all.I've called every other vet I could find in the area to try and find where she went which was hard as I only know her first name! I finally found that she is now at Weardale vets in Crook after I asked for the American vet that dissolves blood clots in paralysed cats- something she told us she does when we asked why she came to the UK.I wanted to post this in case anyone else is looking for Michelle.
Apr 20, 2025 · PaulaWish I had found this vets 10 year ago!!I’ve had more help and knowledge in one vet trip here than I have ever had from my previous vet at another company. You can tell the ladies that work here are on top of their game and continue to research and train to keep it that way. They also have a huge love for cats all being multiple cat owners, which makes me feel so confident with my cat in their care. I would recommend to anyone!
Jan 06, 2025 · Victoria JeanieTook my kittens to Simply Cats for a 6-month review. It was their 1st visit to Simply Cats as I have transferred from another vets practice. I was really impressed about the lovely feedback I had from the vet Lucy who rang and chatted with me for around 20mins or so.. she answered my questions and showed genuine interest in the health and well-being of both my kittens. I would definately recommend Simply Cats!
Aug 17, 2021 · Cheralyn Stephens-WyseI’ve never felt compelled to write a review of any Vet that I’ve visited before, but everyone at SimplyCats has gone above and beyond what I expected while looking after my cat Izzy - I just wanted to say thank you for making her as comfortable as possible in the last few months of her life, particularly when we had to bring her in for the final time.I would never go anywhere else with my other cats, big thanks in particular to Lucie who took great care of Izzy - and to Caroline and Deb who helped sort everything else out when I was feeling particularly upset and made things as easy as possible. Would definitely recommend SimplyCats to anyone looking for a new Vet, it’s very obvious that they genuinely care
Sep 02, 2021 · Ben WelshMy female cat went in yesterday to be spay. My girlfriend dropped her off and was very anxious, the staff went above and beyond to reassure and comfort my girlfriend. We were informed as soon as the operation had completed to put our minds at rest, my cat is doing great today and is recovering well. I would recommend simply cats to anyone who needs a caring vet who genuinely cares about you and your cat. Thankyou ❤️
