Chine House Veterinary Hospital Reviews
I wish I'd moved my dogs here a long time ago. It's been many years since I had the feeling of full trust and faith in my vet but here I have it again. Wonderful people and awesome service. And surgery was done with perfection and Care. I'd recommend them 100%
Jul 13, 2025 · Lorna AndersonRaven is very happy again after today's visit with Martin, she hates the vets but loves Martin and very happily goes in to see him. I've been using Chine for a very long time and whilst I've heard they aren't quite as cheap as others I'd never swap the 5* treatment my dog gets from there. They have in house testing and they staff their own overnights and emergencies. You get a vet 24/7 365 and never get passed on and charged extra. She's had a couple of operations which I was in bits over as she has epilepsy but he reassured me both times and personally did the surgery and she was absolutely fine. Never had a problem there and would never go anywhere else as I love and value my dog so much.I'm editing my review to say I sadly lost my beloved Raven a year ago. Took me this long to be able to talk about her. The service I received was second to none. No being transferred to other vets for out of hours problems and Martin stayed to talk to me and went through every test they had, sadly the epilepsy and heart murmur just kept fighting each other and she didn't come back out of it that time. He helped her go for her eternal sleep and we couldn't have got through it anywhere else or with anyone else. I could tell he was also upset. Sorry it's such a sad update but it times like that where you really need a vet who really cares and you can totally trust. They organised a private single cremation and I'm off to find my tissues.
Jul 22, 2025 · Stiff KI’ve used chine for years with my horses and always been pleased with my care.Unfortunately yesterday my horse was kicked in the field. He was bleeding profusely, bright red and spurting out of him. I rang chine asking for an emergency call out. Initially it seemed fine, the normal we will call you with a time shortly. After an hour and no call I rang again asking for an ETA as the horse had now been bleeding for an hour and a half and despite continued pressure, bandaging and 3 rolls of cotton wool it wasn’t slowing down. The receptionist on the phone (unfortunately I can’t remember her name) said they still didn’t have an ETA and would ring me when they knew. At this point I started calling other vets to see if anyone could give me an answer on when they could come. After finding another vet who could be there in 15 mins, I rang chine to cancel my call out. When I mentioned who I was and the case I was calling about, the same lady very rudely said (before I’d even had chance to mention why I was calling again so soon) “I’ve already told you you’re going to have to wait. We will call you when we know when the vet can come”. Had she even given me half a second to mention why I was calling again 10 mins later she would have known I was trying to cancel. This might seem like normal practice, but this was an emergency case and quite frankly I would expected a faster response, at least a vague time frame or for them to suggest other vets in the area if they knew it was going to be a while. I fully understand how busy vets, being a student myself, but I’m very disappointed with this level of rudeness from the non-veterinary staff and lack of compassion given the situation.
Jun 24, 2025 · Freya HootonCraig has been looking after my birds for over 5 years now.2 weeks ago I had got an appointment for 2 of my chickens to have their regular implants but 1 of my other girls was unwell that day too. I took her with me & even though she wasn't booked in Craig took the time to see her for me. He also saved my turkeys life 3 years ago.I travel a long way to get to Chine House but it is worth it knowing that my birds are in such knowledgeable hands.Thank you Craig. We appreciate all that you do.
Oct 07, 2024 · Anna Williams WestwoodI had a terrible experience when I took my beloved rabbit here. I would NEVER EVER go back. I spoke to a lady over the phone before I booked my appointment to ask a few questions and she was unbelievably rude. She constantly spoke over me, interrupted me & wouldn't let me get a word in. I ended up trying to continue speaking when she interrupted me for the 6th time, but she still continued to speak over me. I was very distressed about my rabbit and was close to tears on the phone but that's how she treated me! In the end I had to call back later that day, and spoke to another lady who thankfully was calm & pleasant. When I arrived for my rabbits appointment I was greeted by friendly staff, one of who was called Geraldine I believe, and she was lovely, however, this quickly turned sour when I met the vet Craig. I can honestly say, he is one of the most rudest, cruellest person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. He is very knowledgeable, but that's all he can offer. He quite clearly didn't care one once for my rabbit, or my feelings, and again, I was incredibly scared & stressed about my rabbit & voiced this, but he couldn't care less. He was extremely condescending, and interrupted me multiple times when I asked questions. After my rabbits tests & examinations, I asked if he might be able to tell if my rabbit is in a lot of pain, and before I even finished my words, he rudely exclaimed "Well how would I know that?". He never once smiled. Zero pleasantries. At the start of the consultation, I asked him how he was, out of politeness. I never received a response. He wasn't forthcoming with any information or advice and I had to poke & prod to get anything out of him, & after maybe my 3rd question, he basically told me not to ask anything else. I also thought of a few more questions the next day so emailed him, but my email was ignored. Is it so wrong for a pet owner to find out how best to care for their rabbit? I wasn't allowed to see any xrays or results, or have any copies of anything. I truely believe I was over charged on purpose, & I tried to speak to the practice manager about this but got nowhere, and as there's not exactly a price list, I can't prove it. It's obvious this place only cares about the money & doesn't care one bit about their small animals, and rather favours their equine patients, as that's where the big bucks are.
