Welcome to our in-depth look at RISE Canine Hydrotherapy & Rehab, a leading facility dedicated to the health and well-being of our beloved canine companions. For pet owners across England, particularly those in and around Preston, understanding the vital role of specialized rehabilitation services is key to ensuring a long, happy, and active life for their dogs. This article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of RISE Canine Hydrotherapy & Rehab, highlighting their expert services, unique features, and commitment to providing top-tier care for your furry family members.
In the world of pet care, just as with human health, rehabilitation plays a crucial role in recovery from injury, post-surgical healing, and managing chronic conditions like arthritis. Canine hydrotherapy and physiotherapy are specialized fields that offer immense benefits, from reducing pain and inflammation to improving mobility, strength, and overall quality of life. RISE Canine Hydrotherapy & Rehab stands at the forefront of this specialized care, offering a compassionate and professional environment where dogs can truly thrive during their recovery journey.
Their approach is not just about physical treatment; it's about creating a supportive and calming experience for dogs, many of whom may be anxious or stressed due to their condition. As we delve into the specifics, you'll discover why RISE Canine Hydrotherapy & Rehab has become a trusted name for dog owners seeking the best possible care for their canine friends in the North West of England.
RISE Canine Hydrotherapy & Rehab is conveniently located at Business Park, Unit 15 Blackgate Ln, Dunscar Wy, Tarleton, Preston PR4 6NP, UK. This strategic location makes it easily accessible for residents across Preston and the wider Lancashire area. Situated within a business park, the facility benefits from a professional and organized environment, offering ample parking and straightforward access for vehicles. This is particularly important for pet owners who may be transporting dogs with mobility issues, as ease of access minimizes stress for both the dog and their owner.
The specific address, Tarleton, is a village within the West Lancashire district, offering a pleasant and semi-rural setting. This can contribute to a more calming experience for dogs compared to a bustling city centre location. For those traveling from further afield within England, the road networks leading to Tarleton are generally well-maintained, allowing for a smooth journey. Public transport options may be more limited given the business park location, so traveling by car is often the most practical choice for clients. The accessibility of RISE Canine Hydrotherapy & Rehab underscores their understanding of the practical considerations for pet owners seeking specialized care.
Services Offered:
- Canine Hydrotherapy: Utilizing a heated pool or underwater treadmill, hydrotherapy provides a low-impact exercise environment. This buoyancy reduces stress on joints, making it ideal for post-operative recovery, arthritis management, weight loss, and general fitness. The controlled environment allows for targeted exercises to improve strength, range of motion, and cardiovascular health.
- Canine Physiotherapy: This involves a range of techniques including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy (massage, mobilization), electrotherapy (e.g., laser, TENS), and home exercise programmes. Physiotherapy aims to reduce pain, restore function, improve mobility, and prevent further injury. Each treatment plan is tailored to the individual dog's needs and condition.
- Post-Operative Rehabilitation: Specialized programmes designed to aid recovery after various surgeries, particularly common orthopaedic procedures like cruciate ligament repair. These programmes focus on pain management, reducing swelling, restoring muscle mass, and gradually increasing activity levels to ensure a full and safe return to function.
- Injury Rehabilitation: Comprehensive care for dogs recovering from sprains, strains, fractures, and other musculoskeletal injuries. Treatment focuses on healing tissues, restoring strength and flexibility, and preventing compensatory issues.
- Chronic Condition Management: Support for dogs suffering from long-term conditions such as osteoarthritis, hip and elbow dysplasia, and degenerative myelopathy. Therapies aim to manage pain, maintain mobility, improve quality of life, and slow disease progression.
- Conditioning and Fitness Programmes: For active and working dogs, or those needing to improve general fitness, RISE offers programmes to enhance endurance, strength, agility, and overall physical performance. This can also be beneficial for weight management in overweight dogs.
- Therapeutic Massage: Targeted massage techniques to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, reduce pain, and promote relaxation.
- Home Exercise Plans: Personalized exercise routines provided to owners to continue rehabilitation and maintenance at home, ensuring consistent progress and long-term benefits.
Features / Highlights:
- Specialized Equipment: The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art hydrotherapy pools and underwater treadmills, as well as various physiotherapy modalities, ensuring effective and safe treatments.
- Experienced and Qualified Staff: The team comprises highly trained and certified canine hydrotherapists and physiotherapists who possess a deep understanding of canine anatomy, physiology, and rehabilitation techniques. Their expertise ensures that each dog receives the most appropriate and effective care.
- Individualized Treatment Plans: Every dog undergoes a thorough assessment, and a bespoke treatment plan is developed based on their specific condition, needs, and progress. This tailored approach ensures optimal outcomes.
- Calm and Welcoming Environment: The facility is designed to be a stress-free zone for dogs. The focus is on creating a relaxing atmosphere that aids in the healing process, particularly for anxious or nervous animals.
- Focus on Decompression: As highlighted in customer reviews, the presence of a "beautiful shop and garden" where dogs can relax before or after treatment is a unique and invaluable feature. This allows dogs to decompress and reduces stress associated with travel and treatment, enhancing their overall experience and making them more receptive to therapy.
- Holistic Approach: The team considers the dog's overall well-being, not just their physical ailment. This includes addressing any anxieties and ensuring a positive experience during their visits.
- Positive Customer Feedback: Consistently positive reviews from real customers, emphasizing the professionalism, care, and effective results, speak volumes about the quality of service provided. The testimonials highlight the significant improvement in dogs' conditions and the supportive nature of the staff.
- Supportive and Reassuring Staff: Customers consistently praise the staff, like Amy and Ephie, for being "amazing," "supporting and reassuring," and always offering "great advice." This human-centric approach, understanding the owner's concerns and providing clear guidance, is a significant highlight.
- Excellent Facilities: Beyond the treatment areas, the "beautiful shop" mentioned in reviews suggests a pleasant and well-maintained environment that adds to the overall positive experience for both dogs and their owners.

RISE Canine Hydrotherapy & Rehab Reviews
Can't say enough good things about Nell's.My dog is receiving Physio and Hydro following a second cruciate surgery within a year. She is scared of water and nervous of new surroundings so having her treated at a vet (though they have been excellent with her) was a lot. Nells has a beautiful shop and garden where Rita has been welcomed to hang out and get relaxed away from the treatment spaces. She is able to decompress in the garden after treatment rather than getting straight in the car to go home which has been a game changer. And the shop! Well! Everything is gorgeous! I want the lot. Rita is happy, I am happy and the care is first class with excellent facilities.Thank you team Nell's!!
Apr 05, 2024 · Jennifer JoinsonAmy and Ephie are amazing. Supporting and reassuring, they are always there with great advice. My dogs love them both. Having both dogs ruptured the cruciate ligaments it's been a real challenge. After post op hydro and physiotherapy they have bounced back to fitness. Thank you both xx
May 07, 2025 · Vicky MurtaghTook Brokk to the dog bath facility today..it was brilliant. Very easy to use, lots of warm water, shampoo, towels and a brilliant blast drier. Brokk isn't keen on personal hygiene but even he enjoyed the experience. It was £14 for 30 minutes. What a brilliant facility to have locally and saves the hair fest in your bathroom. Lovely friendly staff too, very helpful. There's also a fabulous hydro pool and lots of pet goodies to buy. He's fast asleep now after his exciting day x
Jul 06, 2024 · The Curly Camper Helen MilroyOur cocker spaniel LOVES it here. Amy and Ephie are incredibly patient and kind with Albus and he has made amazing progress over the last few months.Ephie’s physiotherapy sessions are extremely thorough; she explains everything very clearly and over the course of our sessions has built up so much trust with Albus who can be quite touch-averse.Amy has done a brilliant job at keeping him calm in water and adjusting his sessions according to how his body responds each time. The facilities are spotless, too!I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nell’s, we’re lucky to have such an attentive team so close 😌
Feb 12, 2025 · Heather PeeksWe have been taking Jess to Amy and Ephie for hydrotherapy and physiotherapy for about 4 months now. The ladies are amazing with Jess. Jess had cruciate ligament surgery last May and she has come on leaps and bounds - literally, with all of the work, help and guidance from Amy and Ephie. Jess enjoys her sessions and we can really see the difference in her. I can't recommend them enough!
