Services Offered
- Hydrotherapy: This service utilizes a specialized aquatic environment to aid in rehabilitation. The buoyancy of water reduces stress on joints, making it ideal for animals recovering from surgery, suffering from arthritis, or needing to build muscle strength without impact. The Animal Rehabilitation Centre likely employs trained hydrotherapists who tailor programs to individual needs, often using an underwater treadmill or a dedicated pool.
- Physiotherapy: Animal physiotherapy involves a range of techniques to improve movement, reduce pain, and restore function. This can include therapeutic exercises, manual therapies (such as massage and mobilization), electrotherapy (e.g., TENS or therapeutic ultrasound), and therapeutic stretching. Physiotherapists at the centre will assess each animal's condition and develop a personalized treatment plan to address their specific musculoskeletal issues.
- Post-Operative Rehabilitation: Following surgery, especially orthopaedic procedures, a structured rehabilitation program is crucial for optimal recovery. The Animal Rehabilitation Centre provides tailored post-operative care, focusing on pain management, reducing swelling, improving range of motion, and gradually strengthening the affected area to ensure a smooth and effective return to normal function.
- Pain Management: For animals suffering from chronic pain conditions, such as osteoarthritis or degenerative disc disease, the centre offers various pain management strategies. This can involve a combination of therapies like hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, acupuncture (if offered), and recommendations for medication or supplements, all aimed at improving the animal's comfort and quality of life.
- Weight Management Programmes: Obesity in pets can exacerbate joint issues and lead to other health problems. The Animal Rehabilitation Centre may offer structured weight management programmes that combine controlled exercise (often through hydrotherapy or targeted physiotherapy) with nutritional advice, helping pets achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
- Therapeutic Exercise Programs: Beyond specific therapies, the centre likely designs and guides owners through home exercise programs. These exercises are crucial for continuing the rehabilitation process outside the clinic, empowering owners to actively participate in their pet's recovery and long-term well-being.

Nov 13, 2024 · Laura FalkinghamI found Vet Rhona and her team to be incredibly caring. I was referred to Rhona by my local vet ( Barnsley) the communication between both vets was amazing, sometimes holding case conference on weekend and even when one vet was off sick. My dog Sam was very lucky to get an early diagnosis of Addison's disease; before it caused him any serious problems. Addison's disease is mainly diagnosed when a dog is seriously ill, fortunately for Sam who had very vague symptoms was diagnosed before hand. So great full for a great team effort by both vets working together... thank you so much to all the team
