The Lodge Cattery Introduce
For pet owners throughout England, the need for trustworthy and compassionate care for their beloved animals extends beyond routine veterinary visits. Whether planning a holiday, facing a temporary relocation, or simply seeking a safe and enriching environment for their pets, boarding facilities play a crucial role. Furthermore, for those looking to expand their family, reputable adoption centres offer a path to providing a loving forever home to an animal in need. This article focuses on The Lodge Cattery, a well-regarded establishment in West Pinchbeck, Spalding, which offers both premium pet boarding and a heartwarming animal adoption service. It aims to provide local users in the United Kingdom with a comprehensive understanding of what makes The Lodge Cattery a suitable and highly recommended choice for their pet care needs.
The Lodge Cattery is more than just a place to leave your pet; it's a dedicated facility committed to the welfare and comfort of animals. While its name specifically highlights "Cattery," it is also a well-established provider of boarding kennels for dogs, demonstrating a broader scope of services for various pets. Operated with a deep understanding of animal behaviour and needs, the facility focuses on providing a secure, clean, and stimulating environment for all its temporary residents. Beyond boarding, The Lodge Cattery also plays a vital role in the community through its animal adoption programme, giving rescued cats and potentially other animals a second chance at a happy life. This dual function underscores their comprehensive commitment to animal welfare, from providing safe temporary homes to facilitating permanent loving families. The ethos is clearly one of genuine care, aiming to ensure that both pets and their owners experience peace of mind.
The Lodge Cattery is conveniently located at Dozen's Bank, West Pinchbeck, Spalding PE11 3ND, UK. This address places it within the picturesque and accessible landscape of Lincolnshire, making it a practical choice for pet owners not only in Spalding but also from surrounding towns and villages in the wider East Midlands region of England. Dozen's Bank is a rural road, which often means easier access without the congestion typically found in urban centres, providing a less stressful journey for pets.
The rural setting contributes to a calmer environment for boarding animals, far from the noise and bustle of city life. Accessibility by car is straightforward, with clear signage expected from main routes in the area. For local residents, this means a convenient drop-off and pick-up point for their pets. While specific public transport links might be limited due to the rural location, for most pet owners, driving is the preferred method of transport for their animals, especially when they are being boarded with luggage like bedding and food. The facility is designed to accommodate arrivals and departures smoothly, ensuring a stress-free transition for both pets and their human companions.
Cat Boarding (Cattery): Providing comfortable and secure accommodation for cats. Facilities often include individual, climate-controlled pens, multi-level units for climbing, and access to secure outdoor runs or "lanais" for fresh air and stimulation. Emphasis is placed on cleanliness and a calm environment.
Dog Boarding (Kennels): Offering secure and well-maintained kennels for dogs. This typically includes individual heated kennels with attached covered runs. Dogs are provided with regular exercise in secure outdoor areas, often multiple times a day, to ensure their physical and mental well-being.
Long-Term and Short-Term Stays: Catering to various lengths of stay, from a few days to several weeks, accommodating holiday plans, home renovations, or other owner commitments.
Administering Medication: Trained staff are capable of administering prescribed medications, including complex schedules. This is a crucial service for pets with ongoing medical conditions, although it's important to clarify if they handle injections like insulin, as some facilities have limitations.
Special Dietary Needs: Accommodating pets with specific dietary requirements or food allergies. Owners are often encouraged or required to bring their pet's usual food to maintain consistency and prevent digestive upsets.
Regular Exercise and Interaction: For dogs, this includes structured "runs" and play sessions in secure areas. For cats, it involves individual attention, play, and opportunities for exploration within their dedicated cattery spaces.
Health Monitoring: Staff closely monitor all boarding animals for any signs of illness, changes in appetite, or distress, ensuring prompt action if veterinary attention is needed. They will contact the owner or designated emergency contact.
Adoption Programme: The Lodge Cattery actively facilitates the adoption of cats (and potentially other animals) seeking forever homes. This involves a careful process to match animals with suitable families, often including health checks and home visits.
Pre-Boarding Requirements: Strict vaccination policies are in place for both dogs (e.g., Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis, Canine Cough) and cats (e.g., Feline Enteritis, Rhinotracheitis Virus, Calici Virus - F3/F4). Proof of current vaccinations is mandatory for admission, typically with boosters administered at least 10-14 days prior to arrival. Pets also need to be up-to-date on flea and worm treatments.
Providing Comfort Items: Owners are usually welcome to bring their pet's favourite blanket, bed, or toys to help them settle in and feel more at home.
Experienced and Caring Staff: Customer reviews consistently highlight the dedication and genuine care provided by the staff. One dog owner enthusiastically stated, "Wilson is well looked after, which enables us to enjoy our holidays as well. All in all we are very happy and would highly recommend using these facilities/kennels." This personal touch ensures pets receive individual attention and comfort.
Clean and Well-Maintained Facilities: The kennels are noted for being "as clean as is possible," a crucial factor for pet health and owner peace of mind. This commitment to hygiene contributes to a healthy environment for all animals.
Secure Exercise Areas: Dogs benefit from "regular 'runs' outside of their own kennels in a secure area," ensuring ample opportunity for exercise and mental stimulation in a safe environment. This feature is vital for the well-being of active dogs during their stay.
Personalised Attention: The staff at The Lodge Cattery make an effort to get to know the animals in their care. The review mentioning "Wilson... is known to the staff who take great care of him" indicates a personalised approach to pet boarding, fostering familiarity and reducing anxiety for repeat visitors.
Animal Adoption Programme: Beyond boarding, The Lodge Cattery actively participates in animal welfare through its adoption services. One heartwarming review states, "After visiting on the open day we adopted two fabulous cats and they have come home to live with us now," highlighting their role in finding forever homes for animals in need. This aspect demonstrates a deeper commitment to animal welfare.
Focus on Pet Well-being: From maintaining routines and administering medication to providing clean, safe spaces and regular exercise, the facility prioritises the holistic well-being of the animals in its care, aiming to make their stay as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
Strict Health and Vaccination Policies: The requirement for up-to-date vaccinations and flea/worm treatments ensures the health and safety of all boarding animals, preventing the spread of contagious diseases within the facility. This commitment to preventative health benefits every pet staying there.

The Lodge Cattery Reviews
Used the boarding kennels side for my dogs over the years. Wilson is a five year old and has been going to the Lodge since he was six months old. He is known to the staff who take great care of him. The kennels are as clean as is possible and the dogs are given regular "runs" outside of their own kennels in a secure area. Wilson is well looked after, which enables us to enjoy our holidays as well. All in all we are very happy and would highly recommend using these facilities/ kennels.

Jun 13, 2025 · Lindsay ColeAlways great service and happy animals. Jan and her team really care about their guests and look after them fabulously well. We have had multiple animals stay at The Lodge over a 12 (or more) year period, greyhounds, cats, a hamster, and would recommend them to anyone.
May 31, 2025 · Mark de FreitasWe visited to adopt a pair of cats. We fell in love and will be picking them up tomorrow. The cattery is well run and we were really impressed with the level of care that the animals get. Really pleasant people.Edit a year later: Our cats have now been with us for just under a year. They've settled in extremely well and we absolutely adore them. Thank you so much! Included photo.
May 30, 2023 · Rox BOur 2 young cats stayed here in June and all was well when the young man cared for them , but then they stayed again for 9 days late August and the young man wasn't there to look after them, instead it was a young woman, who just wasn't interested !! and this time it was so very different!!! They came home, having lost a lot of weight and had horrific diarrhea and sickness, after 2 emergency trips to the vets, and a week of suffering, we thankfully managed to get them well. Obviously we can't recommend and wont use again.
