Swift Referrals Introduce
When your beloved pet faces a complex health challenge, finding the right veterinary care can make all the difference. In England, pet owners are fortunate to have access to Swift Referrals, a dedicated veterinary centre specialising in advanced diagnostic and treatment services. Swift Referrals is not your typical local vet practice; instead, they serve as a crucial extension of your primary veterinarian, providing highly specialised care for conditions that require advanced expertise, equipment, and dedicated attention. They understand that a pet’s serious illness can be a deeply worrying time for owners, and their entire approach is designed to provide not only top-tier medical care but also unwavering support and clear communication throughout the process. From initial consultation to recovery and aftercare, Swift Referrals aims to be a beacon of hope and a source of reassurance, ensuring that every pet receives the best possible chance at a healthy life. Their commitment to excellence is evident in every interaction, making them a truly invaluable resource for pet owners across England.
Swift Referrals is strategically located at Unit 706 Ave E W, Wetherby LS23 7GA, UK. This location in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, offers excellent accessibility for pet owners across the region and beyond. Wetherby itself is a market town with good transport links, making it relatively straightforward to reach by car. The proximity to major road networks, including the A1(M), ensures that clients travelling from various parts of Yorkshire and neighbouring counties can reach the facility with ease. While specific public transport options directly to the unit may vary, Wetherby generally has bus services connecting to nearby towns and cities, and local taxi services can bridge any gaps from bus stops or train stations if required. For those driving, the address suggests a unit within an avenue, likely indicating a well-signposted commercial or industrial area with dedicated parking facilities, making visits stress-free. The ease of access is a significant advantage, particularly during stressful times when a pet requires urgent or regular specialist attention, allowing owners to focus on their pet's well-being rather than navigating complicated journeys.
Swift Referrals provides a wide array of specialised veterinary services, designed to address complex health issues that often go beyond the scope of general practice. Their offerings are comprehensive, ensuring that pets receive the most advanced and appropriate care for their specific conditions. These services include, but are not limited to:
- Advanced Diagnostics: Utilising state-of-the-art equipment such as CT scans and other imaging technologies to accurately diagnose challenging conditions. This was exemplified in a customer review where a CT scan was crucial in diagnosing severe lung worm infection and parasitic pneumonia in a Bernese Mountain dog.
- Internal Medicine: Expert diagnosis and management of complex medical conditions affecting various organ systems, including gastrointestinal, respiratory, urinary, endocrine, and infectious diseases.
- Oncology: Comprehensive cancer care, including diagnostics, staging, medical treatments like chemotherapy, and surgical options. The experience of a greyhound referred with suspected osteosarcoma highlights their expertise in this area, including the initiation of chemotherapy.
- Soft Tissue Surgery: Performing intricate surgical procedures on internal organs, skin, and other soft tissues.
- Orthopaedic Surgery: Addressing conditions related to bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons, often requiring highly specialised surgical intervention.
- Neurology: Diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
- Cardiology: Specialist care for heart conditions, including diagnostics and medical management.
- Dermatology: Advanced diagnosis and treatment of complex skin conditions.
- Emergency and Critical Care: While primarily a referral centre, their ability to handle urgent cases, even on bank holidays as noted by a client, suggests a robust capacity for critical care.
- Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy: Assisting pets in recovery, particularly after surgery or debilitating illnesses, as seen with Albert, the Bernese Mountain dog, who needed help learning to walk again after muscle loss.
- 24/7 Monitoring and Inpatient Care: Providing round-the-clock care for hospitalised pets, ensuring continuous monitoring and timely intervention.
- Specialised Consultations: Offering expert opinions and treatment plans based on detailed assessments and advanced diagnostic findings.
Swift Referrals stands out not only for its extensive range of services but also for several key features that underscore their commitment to both pet and owner well-being. These highlights create a truly exceptional and supportive environment:
- Exceptional Team and Compassionate Approach: Numerous client testimonials consistently praise the entire team for their kindness, empathy, and genuine affection for the animals. Phrases like "lovely welcoming smiling member," "truly treat your pet as their own," and "genuine affection" highlight the deeply caring nature of the staff. This human-centric approach, even in a highly medical environment, is a significant differentiator.
- Clear Communication and Transparency: Swift Referrals prioritises keeping owners informed every step of the way. Clients consistently mention receiving "daily progress reports," "phone calls always answered," and "emails responded to so promptly." Options are made "clear and without pressure," ensuring owners feel empowered and well-informed to make decisions.
- Personalised and Attentive Care: The reviews illustrate a highly personalised approach, with staff remembering and welcoming pets by name. The greyhound Bumble was "welcomed and remembered with genuine affection" at every appointment, indicating a level of individualised attention that fosters trust and comfort.
- Advanced Diagnostic Capabilities: The ability to perform sophisticated diagnostics, such as CT scans, as crucial in Albert's case, underscores their commitment to accurate and timely diagnoses for even the most obscure conditions.
- Support for Owners: Beyond treating the animal, Swift Referrals extends significant support to the owners themselves. Clients mention receiving "so much support too" and the ability to "keep in touch" with ongoing support for concerns or questions after discharge. This holistic care for the entire family unit is a standout feature.
- Responsive and Accessible Service: The fact that they operated "business as usual" on a bank holiday weekend for a critical referral speaks volumes about their dedication and accessibility, even in challenging circumstances. Their prompt responses to communication further enhance this feature.
- Holistic Recovery Support: As seen with Albert needing help to walk again, their commitment extends to rehabilitation and ensuring a full recovery, not just treating the immediate illness.
- Highly Recommended by Referring Vets and Clients: The strong testimonials, with clients "honestly can’t recommend them highly enough" and "wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this place," indicate a strong reputation built on trust and successful outcomes.

Jun 26, 2025 · janine reidWe were referred to Swift when our beloved Bernese Mountain dog Albert became unwell a few months ago.Over the period of a few days he was refusing food and just seemed very lethargic and not himself. We met with Rory who went through the blood results that we had done at our own vets and told us what possible outcomes we could be facing. From the minute we met him we felt very reassured that Albert was in good hands. He explained clearly what tests and investigations needed to be carried out to diagnose what was going on.To everyone’s shock he had a severe lung worm infection, despite being up to date with his worming tablets. He was also suffering from severe parasitic pneumonia. He didn’t show any signs of either of these conditions. It was only after a CT scan that we were given the news. We were relieved to know that it was something that could be treated but we weren’t quite prepared for how poorly Albert became over the next few weeks. In total, he spent almost a month at the animal hospital. The care he received from all the staff at Swift was second to none. We can’t thank them enough for taking care of him. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We were given a daily progress report. At times the calls were upsetting but we knew they were doing everything they could to get our boy home.Further tests showed that Albert had contracted neospora which cause huge muscle loss and he had to have help from the team in learning to walk again. After a long course of antiobiotics he seems to have recovered very well.Even after he was discharged we have been able to keep in touch and they have been very supportive if we’ve had any concerns or questions about his progress.I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this place to anyone who has a poorly pet. They will do everything that can to get your pet back home with you. Safe and well.Thank you to all the team at Swift Referrals. You’re all amazing
May 28, 2025 · Nicola StottCannot recommend Swift enough, absolutely amazing human beings. Special thanks to Dan who took fantastic care of our boy and really helped put our minds at ease in what was the most difficult time our family has ever been through. We were constantly updated and any questions we had were answered. The girls on reception are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Thanks to the nurses for the weeks worth of around the clock care and photos. Our 2 year old Frenchie lost the use of his legs after a pretty serious case of IVDD. We arrived at 9am and by 10am he had had an MRI scan and was in surgery. Honestly we could never thank you enough!
Jul 01, 2025 · Jamie RobinsonI have to say without any shadow of a doubt the night team here are nothing other than incredible!! So special! We brought our boxer Whisper in on Friday night then again Saturday evening when she was admitted and stayed for 4 nights. As an over emotional neurotic dog mum they made me and my family feel welcome, informed, listened to and much calmer. I was never in any doubt that whisper would be given the best care and that’s exactly what they have all done. We spoke to many people over those days and all were so lovely but I must give a special mention to two incredible women whom I feel we owe an extra special thank you and that is Lisa from the front of house team and Molly Whispers vet, thank you so so much we’re so grateful for you x
Mar 28, 2025 · Louise FarquharAmazing service and communication - never felt so reassured! Our 8 month old puppy got rushed in for surgery after a prolapsed urethra on Friday morning. Excellent communication throughout his stay and we even got some photos! Cannot recommend enough, the team are friendly, helpful and we would always go back if needed. We have had a couple of phonecalls since we got him home to check on him and he is recovering well! Thank you especially to Vicky and Lizzie for looking after our baby Junior! Second to none! Junior is missing all the attention he got! Thank you so much :)
