Went into this vet with my presa canario mastiff breed last week, he is a very friendly 10 month old puppy and just wanted to say hello to everyone. Bearing in mind he went in only for a health check, we were met with a very rude vet who treated him as if he was a dangerous dog! She said most of them get nasty and will need to be put down by the age of 2……..She also stated about the type of training collar he was wearing saying it was abuse! I don’t know if she knows what abuse is! There are dogs being neglected and dying and she is so opinionated about my dogs collar? I didn’t ask for her opinion! I asked for a health check! She didn’t once interact with him even though he was kissing her, she treated him like he was a danger. totally different to how they normally treat my two smaller dogs!!! If you have a large breed dog I would stay away from this vets as they will not treat you nicely. I think she must forget that she is a vet, not a trainer or a behaviourist, she obviously doesn’t own big dogs so doesn’t know their requirements or just believes that they are all innately aggressive.

I came here for the first time today with my 2 year old black German Shepherd. I was a little apprehensive as previous vets have found him a bit intimidating and have asked me to muzzle him even though he's never growled or snapped before. Sean was brilliant though, he put us both at ease with his confidence. Despite Zeus barking at him initially outside, they made friends quickly and the check up went very smoothly. No muzzle or treats required. :)

My Springer recently had to have her tail amputated - once again Staveley vets were incredible. The level of care was excellent from the vets to the nurses to the receptionists. Everything was explained to us and the aftercare was excellent. They were also so compassionate when i had to have my staffy put to sleep last year, i will never forget how caring they were with my beautiful girl and how understanding they were with us. It meant so much at such an awful time. I have 3 dogs and trust Staveley vets totally with their care. 10/10

Nearly three weeks ago our 13 year old German shepherd had what we thought was a stroke (we had the same experience with another old shepherd years ago and a vet came out and put him to sleep).We rang our vet, we had to call twice to get a reply. The situation went from bad to worse with the vet refusing to even give us a telephone number of anyone who could help. With hindsight, they did us a favour.We rang round in desperation (it was Sunday morning) and eventually came up with Staveley Vets. Sean answered. He was amazing. He reassured us that our dog was not going to die overnight but he was on call until 8.30 next morning and would come out any time between now and then if we felt we needed him. He said our dog had not had a stroke as we know it but a syndrome peculiar to dogs.We registered with them next morning and 3 weeks later we still have our old girl.I cannot praise this practice too highly. From Sean himself, to Goergia and all the receptionists, we have been made to feel that we are the only clients they have. Absolutely lovely people.We know our girl is on borrowed time but every day is a bonus thanks to Sean and his team.I'm sorry to rabbit on but our last vet said they were too busy to come out in surgery hours even during the week to put her to sleep, we'd have to bring her in. Sean, one of the two partners, said, if we were worried DURING THE NIGHT ON A SUNDAY, ring him and he would come out. It speaks volumes.

Absolutely overwhelmed with the staff here, from the receptionist to the vets, nothing is too much trouble, they don't rush anything and take time to explain everything properly. We have a kitten with swimmers syndrome and they have shown us how to tape her legs. Gone through things we need to do to help her. She's also developed a slight flat chest which can be fatal but again he took his time explained what we need to do to help her to overcome this. I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else.
