Awful experience. We agreed on a kitten, which later changed as the kitten could not be sold due to a health condition. Ron offered us a seal point kitten instead which we were originally after, travelled all the way from Bristol to Sheffield to see the kittens, fell in love with it instantly. Ron even asked us about the naming him etc. during that visit, so everything started to feel real. Long story short, 3 days before we were to travel to Sheffield again to pick the kitten up, Ron said the cat is no longer available because it’s a show quality kitten and he can’t lose out on winning a show. We were heartbroken and could not believe it as we verbally agreed on everything already! He then offered us another cat which was already reserved by someone else (!). Anything for their personal gain, kept on changing their mind throughout. As soon as we decided that maybe we will have the other kitten he then said „it was given to someone else as they have a long waiting list” which we already knew someone had it reserved and since the beginning they were both saying there is no waiting list (couldn’t even be honest, could you?) From what we have seen kittens were also fed the worst kind of food available on the market (4% actual meat content for kittens that need to grow - shocking) which is worrying and shows they don’t really care that much about cats wellbeing. What they do care about is winning shows though and nothing else. Ron never even apologized, just said “same thing happened to him when he was getting his first Birman” - poor excuse for treating people with such cruelty, but clearly to him cats are just business items.I have waited a really long time before posting this review because I am aware that Mlyward is very popular within the Birman breeders community and felt worried it would stop us from getting kittens from other breeders registered with BCC. Thankfully we were put in touch with a wonderful lady from Boston and have two beautiful cats from her now. I think Ron in a way did us a favour as I would much rather have a pet from someone who cares rather than someone as insensitive and selfish as he is. - P B

MLYWARD BIRMANS. Introduce

Welcome to our in-depth guide focusing on MLYWARD BIRMANS, a name that resonates within the Birman cat community in the UK, particularly in the Sheffield area. While MLYWARD BIRMANS is primarily known as a breeder, understanding their operational scope and the broader context of veterinary care in the region is crucial for any pet owner or prospective owner. This article aims to provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview, helping local residents in England, United Kingdom, navigate their pet care journey with a focus on this specific establishment and its implications for veterinary considerations.

It is important to clarify from the outset that MLYWARD BIRMANS operates as a breeder of Birman cats and is not a veterinary clinic or a facility offering direct veterinary medical services. However, their activities as breeders inherently involve a close relationship with veterinary care, as the health and well-being of their animals are paramount. For local users, understanding the nuances of such operations can inform decisions about where to source a pet and what level of care to expect or demand, often linking back to essential veterinary support.

For anyone in England considering a new pet, especially a purebred cat like a Birman, the journey often begins with a reputable breeder. This is where establishments like MLYWARD BIRMANS come into the picture. They are responsible for the initial health screening, vaccinations, and overall early life care of kittens, all of which fall under the umbrella of veterinary oversight. Consequently, their practices indirectly influence the demand for and quality of local veterinary services.

Sheffield, a vibrant city within South Yorkshire, offers a range of veterinary practices, from independent clinics to larger hospital groups, all equipped to provide comprehensive care for pets. When considering a breeder, it's always advisable to inquire about their regular veterinary partners, ensuring that the animals receive professional and consistent medical attention. This due diligence is part of responsible pet ownership.

The core of MLYWARD BIRMANS' operation, as publicly available information suggests, is the breeding of Birman cats. This involves a dedicated focus on the specific needs of this breed, including genetic health, temperament, and early socialization. While direct veterinary treatment is not provided by them, their commitment to the health of their lineage directly impacts the long-term veterinary needs of the kittens they rehome.

Location and Accessibility

MLYWARD BIRMANS is situated at 19 Chapeltown Rd, Ecclesfield, Sheffield S35 9WD, UK. This location in Ecclesfield places it within a well-established community in the northern part of Sheffield. For those travelling by car, Chapeltown Road is a main thoroughfare, making the location relatively straightforward to find from various parts of Sheffield and the surrounding areas. Proximity to major road networks such as the M1 motorway means that individuals from further afield within England, including cities like Bristol as mentioned in customer feedback, can access the location, although careful planning for travel time is always recommended.

Public transport options in Sheffield also serve Ecclesfield, with various bus routes connecting the area to the city centre and other suburbs. While specific bus stops directly outside the address would need to be verified with local transport timetables, the general accessibility by public transport is reasonable for local residents. For pet owners, considering transport methods that are comfortable and safe for animals, especially for initial visits or collections, is an important logistical detail.

Services Offered (indirectly related to veterinary care)
  • Birman Cat Breeding: MLYWARD BIRMANS specialises in breeding Birman cats, focusing on specific bloodlines and breed standards. This involves careful pairing of cats, monitoring pregnancies, and raising litters.
  • Kitten Socialisation: As part of their breeding programme, kittens are typically socialised from a young age, preparing them for life in new homes. This includes exposure to various sights, sounds, and interactions.
  • Initial Health Checks for Kittens: Before kittens are rehomed, they typically undergo initial health checks, vaccinations, and worming protocols, all conducted by a registered veterinary surgeon. It is standard practice for breeders to ensure kittens are healthy and free from common ailments before leaving their care.

Conclusion: Why understanding this place is suitable for locals

For locals in England, particularly those in the Sheffield area and wider UK, understanding an establishment like MLYWARD BIRMANS is crucial for several reasons, even if it is not a direct veterinary service provider. Firstly, for anyone considering acquiring a Birman cat, MLYWARD BIRMANS represents a specific source within the breeding community. Knowing their location and stated specialisation allows prospective owners to consider them as an option for sourcing a pet.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly from a local SEO perspective focused on veterinary care, is the indirect link. Responsible breeders are intrinsically connected to the local veterinary infrastructure. They rely on local vets for health checks, vaccinations, emergency care for their breeding cats and litters, and general health management. Therefore, the operations of breeders like MLYWARD BIRMANS contribute to the overall demand for and understanding of animal health services in the Sheffield area.

However, it is vital for prospective pet owners to exercise due diligence. While a breeder's experience and specialisation in a particular breed can be a positive, it is paramount to ensure that the welfare of the animals is the top priority. Based on customer feedback, there have been instances of significant concern regarding communication, changes in agreements, and perceived prioritisation of show outcomes over pet welfare. These accounts, though representing individual experiences, highlight the importance of thorough investigation, clear communication, and potentially seeking references or independent verification when engaging with any breeder.

For locals, this means not only identifying potential sources for pets but also being informed consumers. Before committing to acquiring an animal from any breeder, it is highly recommended to:

  • Verify Health Records: Always request full veterinary records for the kitten and its parents, including vaccination history, deworming, and any health screenings for breed-specific conditions.
  • Visit the Premises: If possible, visit the breeding environment to assess the living conditions and ensure they are clean, safe, and conducive to the well-being of the animals.
  • Communicate Clearly: Ensure all agreements, particularly regarding health guarantees, collection dates, and pricing, are clearly understood and, ideally, put in writing.
  • Consult a Local Vet: Before or after acquiring a new pet, scheduling an immediate check-up with your chosen local veterinary clinic in Sheffield is highly advisable. Your local vet can provide an independent assessment of your new pet's health and offer tailored advice on ongoing care.

In conclusion, MLYWARD BIRMANS serves as a point of interest for those seeking Birman cats in the UK. While not a veterinary service provider itself, its activities are deeply intertwined with the local veterinary landscape. For residents in England, understanding the role of such breeders within the broader context of responsible pet ownership and the availability of professional veterinary care in Sheffield is key to making informed decisions for the health and happiness of their beloved companions. Always prioritise the well-being of the animal and seek professional veterinary advice when in doubt.
