Choosing a veterinary practice for your beloved pet is one of the most significant decisions a pet owner in England will make. It requires trust, confidence, and the assurance that your animal will receive the highest standard of care, regardless of the situation. In Lancaster, Bay Vets stands as a prominent and long-established veterinary practice, offering a wide array of services for small animals. This article provides a detailed look into Bay Vets Lancaster, outlining their commitment to animal welfare, their facilities, the extensive services they provide, and why they are a suitable choice for pet owners in the local community.
Bay Vets has a rich history, evolving from small surgeries in the 1970s to the modern, comprehensive practice it is today. Located in Baldrand House, a historically significant Victorian property originally built for the Cadbury family, the Lancaster branch combines a welcoming environment with state-of-the-art veterinary capabilities. They are dedicated to delivering professional, high-quality care, treating every pet as if they were their own. This philosophy is underpinned by their RCVS accreditation as a Small Animal General Practice and their recognition as a Silver Cat Friendly Clinic by the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM), demonstrating a commitment to excellence and specialised care for cats.
The practice prides itself on a team of highly qualified and passionate veterinary surgeons, nurses, and support staff who are committed to continuous improvement and providing personalised attention. While every veterinary practice encounters challenges and differing client experiences, Bay Vets strives to offer compassionate and expert care, ensuring that pets receive the best possible treatment, from routine check-ups to complex surgical procedures and 24/7 emergency support.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Thank you for the fur and paw prints from Peach prior to her cremation. It was a massive shock however the staff were amazing with us. They’ve always been great with peach - She’s been with them since she was a kitten.
November 15 · Isabelle ShawIf I could leave minus stars I would, took my older dog today with an infected womb, the place would make a third world vets appear elite, there were people saying their final goodbyes on the lawn next to an already dead dog, I was consulted in the waiting room about my dog and how serious her condition was and when I chose to end her suffering they asked could they buy her for £1 and find a charity to pay so they could operate. Avoid at all costs if you love your pet, have feelings or would prefer a professional opinion.Only positive the vet nurse Laura was lovely and gave me time to make my decision and also Alice the vet who put her out of her misery, the initial vet was so terrible I don't even know her name.
April 23 · Roxanne HammondI’m no longer local but was visiting family this past weekend when my dog decided to eat a stick and get it stuck! She is petrified of the vets so is a ‘challenge’ (nightmare!) when she has to go in for anything. The team Bay vets were amazing. We came in just before they closed and she ended up being in for 5 hours while she fought off all attempts at help, and several rounds of sedative before they could remove the offending stick! The whole team was so kind and kept me updated through the day, other vets have given up on treating her in the past because she is so difficult. I just I can’t recommend or thank the team enough!Even speaking to the receptionists on the phone afterwards to get her file sent over to our normal vet, they were so helpful and genuinely nice to talk to.If we didn’t live three hours away I would be transferring vets- although they’re probably glad we aren’t!
March 19 · Eleanor GreenA lovely experience with our puppy but when trying to register our cat, they told us we had to sign up to a monthly healthcare plan. They're putting profits before the care of animals. We have gone elsewhere. They did call us to tell us they would waver the healthcare plan but it was too late. Change your policies.
January 28 · Gary MacdonaldMy Spaniel Buzz broke his elbow and was ultimately treated at Bay Vets. My vet's main referral partner could not operate for 2-3 days, so I decided to call Bay vets as an alternative and they managed to get him in the very next day and with a saving of a third. Colin the surgeon was fantastic, explained the pre-op and post-op very well and it appears has done an excellent job with Buzz, he is already placing a little bit of weight on the impacted leg and the wound etc looks very tidy. Well done guys, it's not a situation pet or owner likes to be in but you made it as smooth as possible.
