30 Wulfric Square, Peterborough PE3 8RF, UK

5.0
Our greyhound had suffered an arthritic flare up and we decided to take her to hydrotherapy. Having read the positive reviews on google we decided to take her to Well Dog. Stacey and the team were confident and capable with our greyhound, which can be quite a nervous breed of dog, and I always felt our dog was in safe hands. It was amazing to see her swimming around the pool! Stacey is also super knowledgeable and was able to give us invaluable advice on how best to help our greyhound heal which we are immensely grateful for. I can’t recommend them highly enough! - Matt Payne

Services Offered

Well Dog Hydrotherapy provides a specialized range of services focused entirely on canine hydrotherapy and rehabilitation. Their expertise lies in using the therapeutic properties of water to aid in a dog's recovery, pain management, and overall physical wellbeing.

  • Hydrotherapy Sessions: Tailored sessions in a heated pool, supervised by certified hydrotherapists. These sessions help reduce pressure on joints, build muscle strength, improve cardiovascular fitness, and increase range of motion. It’s particularly beneficial for dogs recovering from surgery, those with arthritis, hip or elbow dysplasia, or neurological conditions.

  • Post-Operative Rehabilitation: Structured hydrotherapy programmes designed to accelerate recovery after surgical procedures, such as cruciate ligament repair, fracture repair, or spinal surgery. The controlled environment allows for early, safe exercise to prevent muscle wastage and promote healing.

  • Arthritis and Chronic Pain Management: Regular hydrotherapy sessions can significantly alleviate the pain and stiffness associated with chronic conditions like arthritis. The warmth of the water helps soothe aching joints, while the buoyancy allows for pain-free movement, improving comfort and mobility.

  • Weight Management Programmes: Hydrotherapy offers a low-impact way for overweight dogs to exercise effectively. It helps burn calories, build lean muscle, and improve overall fitness without putting excessive strain on joints, contributing to healthy weight loss.

  • Conditioning and Fitness: For athletic or working dogs, hydrotherapy can be used for fitness training and conditioning, helping to maintain muscle tone, endurance, and overall physical performance. It’s also excellent for general wellbeing and enrichment for all dogs.

  • Nervous Dog Specialisation: The team is highly experienced in handling nervous or anxious dogs, creating a calm and reassuring environment to ensure a positive hydrotherapy experience. Patience and gentle handling are key to building trust with even the most timid canines.
