Vets for Pets - Chesterfield offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services designed to meet the diverse needs of pets at all life stages. Their commitment is to provide preventative, diagnostic, and therapeutic care to ensure the optimal health and well-being of your animal companions.
- Routine Health Checks and Vaccinations: Regular health examinations are crucial for preventative care, allowing vets to identify potential issues early. This includes annual check-ups, tailored vaccination programmes to protect against common diseases, and advice on parasite control (fleas, ticks, worms).
- Neutering and Spaying: These common surgical procedures are offered to help control pet populations, prevent certain health problems (such as mammary tumours and uterine infections in females, and prostate issues in males), and reduce unwanted behaviours.
- Microchipping: Essential for pet identification, microchipping dramatically increases the chances of being reunited with a lost pet. The procedure is quick, safe, and legally required for dogs in the UK.
- Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services, including scaling, polishing, and extractions, are provided to address and prevent dental diseases, which can significantly impact a pet's overall health.
- Diagnostic Services: The practice is equipped with diagnostic tools to aid in accurate and timely diagnoses. This includes:
- In-house laboratory facilities for blood tests, urine analysis, and other diagnostic samples, providing rapid results.
- Digital X-rays (radiography) for examining bones, organs, and identifying internal issues.
- Ultrasound imaging for non-invasive examination of internal organs and soft tissues.
- Surgical Procedures: A range of surgical services is available, from routine soft tissue surgeries (e.g., lump removal) to more complex procedures. All surgeries are performed with appropriate anaesthesia monitoring and pain management protocols.
- Emergency and Critical Care: While primarily a general practice, Vets for Pets - Chesterfield is equipped to handle many urgent and emergency cases during opening hours. They work to stabilise and treat critically ill or injured animals, and typically have arrangements for out-of-hours emergency care if needed, often through a dedicated emergency veterinary service.
- Pet Travel Scheme Advice and Documentation: For pet owners planning to travel internationally with their animals, the practice provides guidance and necessary documentation for the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS).
- Weight Management Clinics: Tailored advice and support for pets struggling with their weight, including diet plans and exercise recommendations, to promote a healthy lifestyle.
- Senior Pet Clinics: Specialised care and advice for older pets, focusing on managing age-related conditions, maintaining quality of life, and offering nutritional guidance.

Apr 11, 2025 路 Liz CaseyMy mum took my dog here for me.Dog had gone lame in one back leg and I noticed a puncture mark on one of his pads, so assumed he`d stood on glass or a nail.Within a week the dog had gone from still placing his foot down to not being able to weight bare. But I had to allow time to see it would heal.He stood on the glass Sunday and was at this vets Friday. The vet took the dog into the treatment room without my mum being allowed in. (what was done I don`t know but i`m assuming nothing).Mum was given anti inflammatory tablets and told it was a soft tissue injury. (how they did not see the puncture mark I do not know, lazy or incompetent, my mum says she did tell them).I wasn`t happy with this diagnosis and took him elsewhere for a second opinion. The other vet was excellent and found and removed a piece of glass + gave antibiotic medication for the infection (swelling). Will never use this vet again absolutely useless on this particular occasion.
