As part of the wider Stanley House Veterinary Group, the Colne branch is positioned to offer general veterinary care to its clients. Pet health is a paramount concern for many households, and having a local, familiar practice can make a significant difference in managing routine health needs and addressing concerns as they arise. This overview will delve into the practical aspects of the Colne branch, including its location, the services it typically provides, and what pet owners can expect when engaging with their team.
Stanley House Veterinary Group - Colne is conveniently located at 16-20 Albert Rd, Colne BB8 0AA, UK. Albert Road is a well-known thoroughfare in Colne, suggesting that the practice is situated within a relatively central and accessible part of the town. This central location is a significant advantage for local pet owners, making it easier to reach for routine appointments or if a pet needs attention.
Being on a main road typically means good connectivity, whether travelling by car or on foot from various parts of Colne. While specific parking facilities are not detailed, a town-centre location often implies on-street parking or nearby public car parks. For those relying on public transport, local bus routes serving Albert Road would provide convenient access. The easily identifiable address in the heart of Colne contributes to its accessibility, aiming to make visits to the vet as stress-free as possible for both pets and their owners.
As a general veterinary practice, Stanley House Veterinary Group - Colne typically offers a foundational range of services designed to cover the primary healthcare needs of common domestic pets, such as dogs and cats. While specific details of every service might vary, the following are common offerings one would expect from a local veterinary clinic of this nature:
- Routine Consultations and Health Checks: Essential for preventative care, these appointments allow veterinarians to assess a pet's general health, discuss any concerns, and provide advice on diet, exercise, and overall well-being.
- Vaccinations: Protecting pets against common and serious diseases, routine vaccination programmes are a core service for puppies, kittens, and adult animals.
- Microchipping: A crucial service for pet identification, aiding in the safe return of lost pets and a legal requirement for dogs in the UK.
- Parasite Control: Advice and treatments for flea, tick, and worm prevention and control, vital for both pet health and household hygiene.
- Diagnostic Services: While specific equipment details are not provided, general practices typically offer basic diagnostic tools such as in-house blood tests, urine analysis, and potentially some imaging services to aid in diagnosing various conditions.
- Minor Surgical Procedures: This can include procedures such as neutering (spaying and castration) and other small, routine operations.
- Dental Care: Basic dental examinations and advice on oral hygiene, which can be crucial for a pet's overall health.
- Prescription Dispensing: Dispensing necessary medications as prescribed by their veterinarians.
- Referral Services: For more complex or specialised conditions, the practice would typically refer pets to a larger veterinary hospital or specialist clinic within their group or network.
It is important for pet owners to clarify the full scope of services available directly with the practice to ensure their specific needs can be met.
Stanley House Veterinary Group - Colne, like any local business, has aspects that stand out to its clientele. Based on available public feedback, certain features and interactions are highlighted by customers:
- Community Interaction Regarding Strays: One notable highlight is the practice's willingness to assist with local community issues, as evidenced by their help with scanning a stray cat for a microchip. This demonstrates a commitment to animal welfare beyond just their registered clients and a proactive approach to reuniting lost pets with their owners.
- Microchipping Services: The successful identification of the stray cat through microchipping highlights the effectiveness and importance of this service offered by the clinic, proving invaluable in facilitating potential reunions.
- Local Presence: Being a local branch of a veterinary group means they are physically present within the Colne community, providing a convenient point of contact for routine care.
However, it's also important for potential clients to be aware of the range of experiences shared. One customer's critical review regarding emergency services suggests that while the practice may state "access to 24/7 emergency support," this might refer to a referral system rather than in-house, immediate emergency treatment at the Colne branch itself. This aspect is crucial for pet owners to clarify directly with the practice, especially for urgent care needs. The positive interaction regarding the stray cat, however, reflects a compassionate approach to animal welfare in non-emergency scenarios.

Stanley House Veterinary Group - Colne Reviews
Stanley House vets proudly proclaim “access to 24/7 emergency support, you can count on us.” Expecting this to the case I called them early evening on 20/01/25 following an emergency situation at home asking to bring my gsd in as she needed emergency lifesaving assistance. I was told a categorical ‘no, you can’t bring her’. I couldn’t quite believe what I was hearing so asked again explaining the urgency of the situation & was again told No. I was then given a tel number of an emergency vets over 45 minutes away. We had no choice but to make that journey, delaying her treatment & prolonging her suffering, sadly my 2 year old gorgeous shepherd passed that night. I will never forgive Stanley house vets for their blatant disregard for my shepherds life. I just want to warn others, if you think you can rely on this vets & ‘count on them’ in an emergency, the actual reality is, you most certainly can’t.
Mar 17, 2025 · Miss MonroeA stray cat turned up in our garden, extremely scared and very hungry. After four days he was still in our garden, but not so hungry due to him eating us out of house and home 🤣I phoned Stanley House and asked if I could take him there to see if he was chipped. As luck would have it, he was! I left him there on Thursday 26th September, relieved he would be reunited with his owner. On Monday 30th September, Stanley House rang to say they hadn't heard anything from the owner, who is at least 1-2 hours drive away 😳They are going to put a paper collar on him and I will be collecting him tonight. If anyone reading this recognises him, please can you message me. I would love to keep him but we have 4 cats of our own. This lovely, friendly boy deserves to be reunited with his owners. Please pass this around. He was found on Nora Street, Barrowford.Thank you!
Oct 01, 2024 · Mandie JacksonMy little girl went in today for dental surgery at 13 years old.I was pleased with the on going phone calls on her procedure. The opp manager talked me through this week before . Very worrying at 13 years of age for a dog mum...Can I just say she is home and eating after just hours of surgery. And probably a better life without discomfort and pain.. so for worried dog mums take this reiview on board...looking forward to my Peggy Sue having the best Autumn year's of her life..Thank you Stanley house.xx
May 08, 2025 · Yvonne, GordonI’m not from the area, however that didn’t matter to these caring guys who treat every animal as if they are their own. Absolutely brilliant service from vet Lauren and her team. My pooch wasn’t well on a Saturday morning and her behaviour wasn’t right. The guys got me in under an emergency appointment quickly and left no stone un turned. Obviously I needed reassurance there was nothing sinister going on with my fur baby.Laura was very kind, professional and courteous in explaining and her observations of my pooch.I’d highly recommend these guys, should I move to the area I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Fantastic work and thank you so much for putting my mind at rest. Pooch is currently being monitored for any changes as Lauren recommended.Photo of pooch at her best, thanks guys.
Feb 24, 2024 · Rich NewtonDo not recommend this vet service as it seems like they care more about money than the animal unfortunately. They recommended my dog get surgery on both of his back legs @ £8000 for both. Luckily we did go to a specialist for a 2nd opinion who said that only 1 leg needed surgery and quoted £2500. They also prescribed a medication to be given daily that can cause liver damage if used this frequently. When a refund was requested as they charged for the insurance excess without us confirming we would be going ahead with the surgery (and before we even received a quote) they only offered us £10 refund and refused to give a cost breakdown, this is bearing in mind that the medication prescribed can be bought for £15 online with prescription for 10 times the size of bottle. We are happy to pay any fee for the health of our pet, as they are a part of the family, but I find it absolutely awful that money comes above the health of the animal, especially recommending surgery that was not needed. If you feel you need a second opinion, please do take it and don't just pay because you feel like you have to!
