Stanley House Veterinary Group - Burnley Reviews
Had to take our collie to the Burnley practice, this morning, and kind of "knew" that we wouldn't be bringing him home. We don't know the name of the vet who dealt with us, a really young guy, who was lovely to deal with. He was gentle and kind with our dog, and sympathetic, respectful and clear with his explanations to us. We were obviously upset but he made the process as bearable as these things can be. I hope he gets to read this review, or at least is told about it. He's a credit to the practice, and needs to be held on to (take note, managers).A kind professional, good with upset clients and lovely with animals - Burnley's James Herriot
Jun 13, 2025 · Antony LloydTook our new puppy here, and due to the continued roadworks in town, we were in traffic well over 20 mins, making us 5 mins late or so.I went in first and was in a good mood and showed this but the receptionist (Jennifer) before any hello informed us in a patronising manner that we "was late" and will need to check if we can still be seen. I then said, "Do u not allow 10 mins for traffic, etc" she looked at me like I was stupid and said, "NO, u have to be here 5 mins before." I told her the doctors allow 10 mins as each has different times on watches.. she again spoke like I was stupid and came from Mars. "Well, we dont."So I sat down. When my mum came in I said "apparently we are late" Jennifer stood up and said "do we have a problem" when I told her the issues with her attitude she threatened to not let our puppy get her injections and we will have to rebook and told me to leave! She threatened a little pup as she could have easily caught parvo at any point being out to be refused treatment because a receptionist has an attitude issue with customers. My mum is changing vets to a more politely managed practice who doesn't threaten the welfare of defenceless animals by their receptionist. This practice has now lost some customers, and I will make others aware of how bad it is and how they treat customers. Jennifer showed no self-control and tried to use her position to intimidate customers with treatment refusal. This practice needs to have in-house training with its receptionists and a lot of customer service. In public facing roles, you need to show some self-control with certain situations, but at this practice, there is none, apparently, as we learned. Terrible first encounter and the last here.
