Features / Highlights
The Westway Veterinary Group, Dog Clinic in Fenham, offers several key features and highlights that enhance the experience for dog owners and their pets. These attributes contribute to its reputation as a leading canine care facility in the North East:
- Dedicated Dog-Friendly Environment: Being a specialised "Dog Clinic" means the entire facility is designed with dogs in mind, aiming to reduce stress. This includes dog-friendly spaces and a focus on making nervous dogs, like the "Monty" mentioned in a review, feel more at ease.
- Experienced and Compassionate Staff: Consistently praised for their professionalism, kindness, and caring approach. Reviews highlight that staff "listen to my requests of having a nervous dog and act accordingly, making mine and Monty's experience less stressful." The team of veterinary surgeons and nurses are highly qualified, with some holding certificate qualifications, demonstrating a commitment to high clinical standards.
- Supported by a Tier 3 RCVS Hospital: The Fenham Dog Clinic is part of the larger Westway Veterinary Group, which includes a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) accredited Tier 3 hospital on West Road. This means the clinic benefits from extensive resources, advanced equipment (like the CT scanner), specialist referrals, and 24/7 emergency support, providing a robust safety net for complex cases.
- Focus on Preventative Healthcare: A strong emphasis on preventative measures, including comprehensive vaccination protocols, parasite control, and the promotion of their "Healthy Pet Club" to make routine care more accessible and affordable.
- Client Communication and Education: The practice is committed to transparent communication and empowering pet owners with knowledge, providing advice on diet, behaviour, and general pet welfare.
- Accessibility and Convenience: With ample free parking and disabled access, the clinic strives to make visits as easy as possible for all clients. Their consistent opening hours and access to emergency care via their main hospital are also key benefits.
- Addressing Customer Concerns: While reviews generally highlight positive experiences, one customer raised concerns about "extra charges every time" and a lack of transparency regarding fees, even with a "Healthy Pet Club" membership. They mentioned "upsells and extras" for operations and "free routine follow ups" resulting in additional charges. It's important for pet owners to have clear discussions about treatment plans and costs upfront. Reputable practices like Westway would ideally encourage open dialogue to address these concerns directly, ensuring clients understand the value and necessity of all recommended services and associated fees. Mar 13, 2025 · Angie OkellYou get great service with quality vets and facilities but, I get sick and tired of extra charges every time. Even with healthy pet club you don’t really see the 10% discount as they always add other things on top and each time there’s extras and or medication “just in case”. which means you can’t really say no if your beloved animal needs it as a “maybe” ? Free routine follow ups always result in some extra charge for whatever reason and most of the time any supposed “free” advice results in being him in anyway to be safe at another mortgage cost …. You really need to be more transparent with these fees you charge ! Even operations or castrations come with upsells and extras ? Sorry for the rant but come on.
Feb 26, 2025 · Richard WilsonYou have removed 3 small objects from Baylee in his first year of life, he has been the most challenging and rewarding dog I've ever known. He would not be here today to roll in mud and live his best life if not for you. Thank you x
Mar 17, 2024 · Amy BroughtonLuna our frenchie was due for her yearly health check and vaccine. So we went to Westway vets as usual. The young lady we saw was very helpful answer’d all our questions and was lovely with Luna as was the receptionist on the front desk.
