Northern Equine Therapy Centre

Rathmell, Settle BD24 0FB, UK

5.0
I've taken my Connemara here initially after she was diagnosed with hock arthritis to help her shed some excess weight and subsequently to keep her weight under control. Each time she visits she always loses the weight I need her to and looks a million dollars when I go and pick her up. I can't thank Diane and Jess enough as the treatment is always 5 馃専 and would recommend them highly to anyone who needs to rehabilitate their horse after an injury or maybe just needs to keep them fit while they go on holiday. See you soon 馃槉 - Amanda Godfrey

The Northern Equine Therapy Centre offers a specialised range of services focused on equine hydrotherapy and complementary therapies, designed to support rehabilitation, fitness, and overall well-being. Their facilities are state-of-the-art, allowing for highly customised treatment plans.

Services Offered:

  • Equine Hydrotherapy Pool: Featuring a unique 12ft deep circular equine pool, allowing for a bespoke program tailored to each horse's needs. This enables full-body workouts with reduced concussive impact on joints, improving general fitness, joint flexion, and respiration. It's particularly beneficial for rehabilitation after injury or surgery and for general conditioning.
  • Aqua-Treadmill Sessions: Providing a controlled, low-impact workout that aids in strengthening and conditioning muscles, heart, and lungs. It helps increase cardiovascular activity, stride length, range of motion, symmetry, straightness, muscle tone, and strength, while reducing stress on tendons and ligaments.
  • Therapeutic Saline Cold Water Aerated Spa: A highly effective, drug-free treatment using chilled saline water (around 4掳 Celsius) with water jets. This is excellent for reducing inflammation, swelling, and pain, stimulating circulation, and speeding up recovery from lower leg injuries, tendon, ligament, concussive, and hoof-related issues. It can also be used preventatively.
  • Solarium Sessions: Utilising infra-red and ultra-violet lights with warm air diffusers to soothe muscles, aid drying, and promote circulation.
  • Rehabilitation Livery: Flexible rehabilitation livery services are available, including full livery and therapy sessions as required. This allows horses to stay at the centre for intensive, supervised rehabilitation programs.
  • Fitness and Training Programmes: Tailored sessions to enhance competitive performance, manage weight, or maintain fitness while owners are on holiday, ensuring horses return in peak condition.
  • Weight Management Programmes: Expert assistance in helping horses shed excess weight and maintain a healthy weight, particularly beneficial for conditions like hock arthritis, as evidenced by customer reviews.
  • Pain and Inflammation Management: Therapies designed to ease pain and inflammation, improving the comfort and mobility of horses with conditions like arthritis.
  • Pre-Referral Consultations: While not explicitly stated as a service, the centre's collaborative approach often involves liaising with the horse's primary veterinarian to customise rehabilitation programmes.
  • Holiday Livery with Fitness Focus: Allows owners to leave their horses for care while they are away, with the added benefit of fitness and weight management, ensuring the horse stays in condition.
