Services Offered
While Morningside Cattery primarily operates as a cattery for boarding, the concept of "veterinary care" often encompasses the overall health and well-being of the animals under their supervision. It's crucial for pet owners to understand that a cattery, while providing boarding, may not offer full-scope veterinary medical services on-site in the same way a dedicated veterinary clinic would. However, a reputable cattery will always have protocols in place for dealing with medical emergencies or ongoing health needs of their boarded animals, often involving liaison with a local veterinary practice. Based on the provided information, Morningside Cattery offers:
- Cat Boarding: Their core service is providing a safe and comfortable environment for cats to stay while their owners are away. This typically includes individual pens, feeding, and attention.
- Supervision and Basic Care: While not explicitly stated as medical care, a cattery's service inherently includes daily supervision of the cats, ensuring they are eating, drinking, and behaving normally. Any deviations would ideally be noted and addressed.
- Emergency Protocols (Implied): Any professional cattery would have procedures for handling medical emergencies, which would involve contacting a local veterinary surgeon if a cat becomes unwell during its stay. This is a critical aspect of responsible animal care, ensuring that boarded animals receive prompt medical attention when needed.
- Hygiene and Comfort: Part of veterinary care, even in a boarding setting, is maintaining a clean and hygienic environment to prevent the spread of illness, along with providing comfortable accommodation.
It is always recommended that pet owners clarify the exact scope of veterinary support and emergency procedures with Morningside Cattery directly when making a booking or inquiry, especially if their cat has pre-existing medical conditions or requires specific medication administration.
Features / Highlights
Based on the available information and understanding the nature of a cattery, the features and highlights of Morningside Cattery, from a prospective user's perspective in England, would likely include:
- Dedicated Cat Environment: As a cattery, it focuses exclusively on feline boarding, which often means facilities are designed with cats' specific needs and behaviours in mind, potentially reducing stress compared to a mixed-animal boarding facility.
- Local Convenience: Its location in Ecclesfield, Sheffield, makes it a convenient option for local residents seeking boarding services for their cats, reducing travel time and stress for both owners and pets.
- Established Presence: Being an identifiable local business with a physical address and contact details suggests an established presence within the community for cat boarding services.
However, it is important to also acknowledge that customer reviews suggest some areas where improvement might be beneficial for customer satisfaction and perceived quality of care. Points raised by customers, such as limitations on settling in pets, food timing, and post-stay health observations, are aspects potential customers might consider when evaluating the suitability of the cattery for their specific needs. Transparency and clear communication regarding these aspects are often valued by pet owners.

Morningside Cattery Reviews
We weren’t allowed to settle our cat or see where he would be staying. Something I’ve been able to do at every other cattery he’s stayed at.On the morning we went to pick him up at 9am we were told he’d not been given any food that morning. He was incredibly skittish when he came home and he was scratching a lot until we gave him an early flea treatment.
Apr 10, 2025 · KatAbsolutely disgusting service. Julie is so rude. When I asked if she could check about my next booking while I was there, she aggressively told me to phone later as she was far too busy to help me. I get that they were dealing with a stressful situation as a cat had gone missing, but you shouldn't take it out on other customers. When I called to cancel my future visits and told her why she laughed at me shocking customer service. Then she had the cheek to try and call me off her personal mobile phone. Probably to abuse me some more. Put a complaint in received no reply. Only giving one star as it won't post without any.
May 30, 2024 · Karen ShawIt is a lovely cattery run by people who truly care about their boarders. They looked after my late cat and now my daughter takes her cats one of which collapsed while boarding but Julie the manager was magnificent getting vetinary care and staying with her as long as possible. We could not have asked for more care and will be forever grateful
Sep 13, 2022 · Ann MarsdenOur 3 cats stayed here for 2 weeks, all well cared for a looked after. All food requirements were met and we have problem cat who is very feisty but she was no problem to them.
Dec 09, 2022 · Katie Annie PriestHere’s my review of Mlyward Birmans as I believe everyone deserves to know how they treat people, being the same people as Morningside Cattery:Awful experience. We agreed on a kitten, which later changed as the kitten could not be sold due to a health condition. Ron offered us a seal point kitten instead which we were originally after, travelled all the way from Bristol to Sheffield to see the kittens, fell in love with it instantly. Ron even asked us about the naming him etc. during that visit, so everything started to feel real. Long story short, 3 days before we were to travel to Sheffield again to pick the kitten up, Ron said the cat is no longer available because it’s a show quality kitten and he can’t lose out on winning a show. We were heartbroken and could not believe it as we verbally agreed on everything already! He then offered us another cat which was already reserved by someone else (!). Anything for their personal gain, kept on changing their mind throughout. As soon as we decided that maybe we will have the other kitten he then said „it was given to someone else as they have a long waiting list” which we already knew someone had it reserved and since the beginning they were both saying there is no waiting list (couldn’t even be honest, could you?) From what we have seen kittens were also fed the worst kind of food available on the market (4% actual meat content for kittens that need to grow - shocking) which is worrying and shows they don’t really care that much about cats wellbeing. What they do care about is winning shows though and nothing else. Ron never even apologized, just said “same thing happened to him when he was getting his first Birman” - poor excuse for treating people with such cruelty, but clearly to him cats are just business items.I have waited a really long time before posting this review because I am aware that Mlyward is very popular within the Birman breeders community and felt worried it would stop us from getting kittens from other breeders registered with BCC. Thankfully we were put in touch with a wonderful lady from Boston and have two beautiful cats from her now. I think Ron in a way did us a favour as I would much rather have a pet from someone who cares rather than someone as insensitive and selfish as he is.
