City Vets Shore Road Reviews
We found a large mass in our little Luna’s mouth on Friday evening (20th Dec) and were panicked and distraught. City Vets Shore Road fitted her in for a check up first thing the next morning, on the Saturday. They scheduled Luna for a biopsy first thing Monday morning (23rd Dec), which I’m told was their only emergency appointment over the Christmas period and I’m so grateful that was available for her. While Luna was in surgery, the head vet nurse rang me to say that the vet had got a proper look at the mass and gave me the option to go ahead with the biopsy, but they recommended palliative care instead of putting her through the surgery. I chose the palliative care on their recommendation and I’m so grateful that they were straight up and so compassionate about the situation, they certainly could have made a good £300 more if they went ahead with the biopsy as agreed without saying anything. When I couldn’t just let her go on the operating table, they then fitted her in for euthanasia the next day, on Xmas Eve so we could have one last night with her. We were well looked after and Luna was treated like the little old queen she was, even though she was dreadfully sick during the procedure. She was running around playing and eating like a champ on Friday, and she was gone by Tuesday. As you can imagine, it was an incredibly quick and painful few days and my partner and I were well supported by all of the staff, even the lovely girl on reception was incredible and comforting. All in all, while we would have paid anything to keep Luna from suffering, the cost of it all was extremely reasonable and we are now waiting on our baby’s ashes coming home. Thank you, City Vets, for helping us through the hardest time of our lives and for ensuring Luna got the best and most compassionate care we could have asked for, especially in the run up to Christmas when I’m sure you all would rather have been at home with your families. Thank you ♥️
Dec 25, 2024 · Suzanne ErnstI've been taking my animals to City Vets, Shore Road for years and I'm very happy with the care they provide. They seem to really care about the animals. On a couple of occasions they have gone the extra mile with care and diagnostics. The prices are really reasonable too
Oct 03, 2024 · Lynsay DRang here on Friday afternoon at 3pm as my 14 week old puppy had laboured breathing. Was told there were no appointments and I would have to try somewhere else. Lady on the phone is clearly in the wrong job as had not one ounce of remorse giving my very emotional state, was told it was nothing to do with her and struggling to get staff. Rang again Saturday to be told there was no vet on site, why open?? To call back Monday or try Vets Now, sorry I'm not in a position to remortgage my house. Fast forward to today, my dog has passed away. Surely my dog should have been priority? No emergency appointments? To the lady I spoke to on the phone, be empathetic, learn some manners!
Jul 06, 2025 · A SDisappointed with the service. The surgery date for my pet was changed twice due to a lack of available vets which is very frustrating. I’ve also been trying to book an appointment for my second dog, but every time I call (every two weeks), I’m told to try again in a couple of weeks. No availability, no solutions. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional
Jul 01, 2025 · krzysztof tTook my pet in, told me to wait outside, after 5 mins brought him back out and charged me a lot of money for "an injection" apparently. Issue still persists. As the vet didn't surface to give me a diagnosis or to explain anything, I'm left in the dark and now have to attend a different vet. Due to my ill health I had no choice but to leave and just put it down to a terrible experience never to be repeated.
