The Creepy Creatures Shop Introduce
For enthusiasts and aspiring owners of exotic pets across England, particularly in the North West, finding a dedicated and knowledgeable local supplier can be a unique challenge. Unlike conventional pet shops that primarily cater to dogs and cats, the world of creepy crawlies, scaled companions, and fascinating amphibians requires a specific understanding and specialised inventory. In Burnley, Lancashire, The Creepy Creatures Shop aims to be that specialist destination. This article delves into what The Creepy Creatures Shop offers to the local community, from its convenient location to its intended range of services. We will explore its position as a go-to for those interested in the more unusual side of the pet kingdom, considering both the positive feedback and any concerns raised, to provide a balanced overview for potential customers. Whether you are looking to acquire a new exotic pet, or need specific supplies and advice for your existing unique companion, read on to discover if The Creepy Creatures Shop is the right fit for your needs in Burnley and the surrounding areas.
The Creepy Creatures Shop positions itself as a niche pet store, focusing on the fascinating world of exotic animals, primarily reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates such as tarantulas. In a market often dominated by traditional pet shops, a specialist establishment like this fills a vital gap for a growing community of exotic pet enthusiasts in the UK. The shop’s name itself, "The Creepy Creatures Shop," immediately signals its unique offering, appealing to those with an interest in the less conventional side of pet ownership. For individuals seeking to purchase a new exotic companion, or acquire specific housing, feeding, and environmental supplies tailored to these animals, such a dedicated store can be an invaluable resource. The success of acquiring a pet like a "Bird eater Tarantula" suggests that the shop can indeed provide specific exotic animals. However, in the realm of exotic pet care, expertise and ethical practices are paramount. Providing the correct environment, nutrition, and overall welfare for these animals is complex and requires significant knowledge. Therefore, for a shop specialising in these creatures, maintaining high standards of animal husbandry is crucial for both the well-being of the animals and the confidence of customers. It’s important for local customers to consider these aspects when evaluating the suitability of such a specialised pet store for their exotic pet needs.
The Creepy Creatures Shop is located at 69 Curzon St, Burnley BB11 1DF, UK. Burnley is a market town in Lancashire, England, known for its industrial heritage and its location within the beautiful Pennine hills. Curzon Street is situated within the town centre, making The Creepy Creatures Shop relatively accessible for local residents and those visiting Burnley. Being in a town centre location typically means good pedestrian access and often proximity to public transport links. For those relying on buses, several routes are likely to serve the town centre, with bus stops within a short walking distance of Curzon Street. This connectivity makes it convenient for customers within Burnley and the immediate surrounding areas to reach the shop without the need for private transport. For customers travelling by car, town centre locations can sometimes present challenges with parking. However, Burnley town centre usually offers various public car parks, both multi-storey and surface level, within a reasonable distance of Curzon Street. While parking availability and cost should always be checked, the central location ensures that the shop is embedded within the local community, providing a physical presence for exotic pet owners in the Lancashire region. This central positioning aids in making The Creepy Creatures Shop a visible and reachable destination for its specific clientele.
Based on the provided information, The Creepy Creatures Shop appears to offer a specific range of services tailored to exotic pet enthusiasts. These likely include:
- Sale of Exotic Pets: The mention of a customer acquiring a "Bird eater Tarantula" indicates that the shop sells live exotic animals, specifically invertebrates and likely reptiles and amphibians.
- Exotic Pet Supplies: While not explicitly detailed in the reviews, a specialist exotic pet shop would typically offer a range of essential supplies for these animals, such as:
- Enclosures and Terrariums (though concerns about size were raised)
- Substrates and Decor (e.g., twigs, hiding spots)
- Heating and Lighting Equipment (e.g., DHP, UVB lamps, as their absence was noted in a negative review)
- Livefood and Specialised Diets
- Husbandry Tools and Accessories
- Customer Service for Sales: One positive review mentions "Great service" regarding a purchase, suggesting a basic level of customer interaction during sales.
The features and highlights of The Creepy Creatures Shop, based on customer feedback and its specialised nature, are as follows:
- Specialisation in Exotic Pets: A key highlight is its dedicated focus on "creepy creatures" such as tarantulas, reptiles, and amphibians. This makes it a go-to destination for enthusiasts seeking these specific types of animals and their related supplies, distinguishing it from general pet stores.
- Availability of Niche Animals: The successful purchase of a "Bird eater Tarantula" demonstrates that the shop provides access to less common pets, fulfilling a specific market demand in the local area.
- Local Presence for Exotic Pet Community: For exotic pet owners in Burnley and surrounding areas of Lancashire, having a dedicated physical shop is a valuable asset for sourcing live animals, specialised livefood, and immediate advice (though the quality of advice can be a point of contention based on mixed reviews).
However, it is also important to highlight concerns raised by a customer, which could be considered as potential areas for improvement and key information for prospective customers:
- Animal Welfare Concerns: A significant concern was raised regarding the living conditions of some reptiles, specifically "fully grown crested gecko and snakes living in tiny carry case containers with a few twigs and no hiding spots," and a perceived lack of proper environmental controls ("No DHP or UVB either... No wonder its tail is missing"). This is a critical point for any pet store, especially one dealing with species that have specific husbandry requirements.
- Cleanliness of Enclosures: "Filthy glass" was mentioned, indicating potential issues with the cleanliness and maintenance of animal enclosures.

In conclusion, The Creepy Creatures Shop offers a distinct and specialised service for exotic pet enthusiasts in Burnley and the wider Lancashire region of England. Its focus on animals such as tarantulas, reptiles, and amphibians fills a niche within the local pet market, providing a physical location where customers can potentially find less common pets and related supplies. For those specifically seeking a "Bird eater Tarantula" or similar creatures, the shop appears to facilitate such acquisitions. However, it is crucial for prospective customers to be aware of the mixed reviews, particularly the significant concerns raised regarding animal welfare, enclosure conditions, and proper environmental provisions (such as DHP and UVB lighting) for the reptiles. While one customer reported "Great service" for a purchase, the detailed negative feedback highlights potential areas where the shop's animal husbandry practices may fall short of recommended standards for exotic species. Therefore, while The Creepy Creatures Shop caters to a unique segment of the pet-owning community in England, locals should exercise their own judgment, perhaps by visiting the store in person to assess the animal welfare conditions and the suitability of the environment for the pets, before making any purchases. This critical evaluation will ensure that any potential new addition to their family comes from a source that aligns with responsible and ethical pet care practices.

April 01 · Mark RostronPlace should be reported. Keeping their reptiles in tiny enclosures! Animal abuse. Fully grown crested gecko and snakes living in tiny carry case containers with a few twigs and no hiding spots. Haven't been misted at all either. Hard to see through the filthy glass but that's a 30g adult crestie. No DHP or UVB either... No wonder its tail is missing. My crestie is almost 6 and still has her tail.
January 08 · GThis is an amazing little shop with amazing staff & a welcoming atmosphere. As I used to live near this place it was my go to for food for my tarantulas. They are that good that I traveled 2 hours on a train and walked half an hour to get 3 new tarantulas. Then walked half an hour and 2 hours on the train to come home. They are well priced, have an excellent range of livestock, enclosures, decorative items, substrate and much much more. The staff are always happy to help, provide great advice and they have great conversation skills. This is a must for anyone who is seeking exotic creatures or in need of advice and guidance. 11/10.

There probably isn't anything they don't know about these little critters! You'll get everything you need here and the right advice to go with it
