★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve been in a handful of times in the past few years and it just keeps getting worse. I’ve seen underfed fish, fish with obvious disease and dead fish every single time I’ve been here. The staff are utterly useless aswell never leaving the desk and just scrolling on the phone while customers walk in and out.The most recent time I came in was today and it’s just so bad I had to write a review. Every tank was completely filthy and multiple tanks had dead fish either on the substrate or sucked into filters. Not even the plants are surviving in this shop. The one member of staff literally stood and scrolled TikTok at the front desk the entire time. Please don’t waste time or money at this place. Just go to grosvenor tropicals it’s leagues better and only across the road
June 15 · Jay Tbloody hopeless went in today 8 june with the intent to buy 5 koi carp at 69 pounds each or 3 for 200 , was in shop 45 min with my wife and son before most of customers , no one came went to look for staff , found him seemed to be the only one,he was with a customer waited for him to finish with her he then asked how could help me ,i asked would he bowl a few fish up he said i would have to wait 10 to twenty mins. i had driven 1 hour to get there called my wife and son and left will get my koi somewere else ,under staffed and useless,
June 08 · Terry McKeownWere a great help, the staff member went out of her way to help us. Much appreciated, was a customised build for my alligator snapper so was nice to get good advice on the tank and different substrates and plants
June 25 · Matt PottsI visited Maidenhead Aquatics today and was very disappointed. There were quite a few dead fish lying in tanks that hadn't been removed which was concerning. The fish I came to buy looked good so I went ahead with the purchase. The assistant came to get the fish for us and the way they were handled was shocking to me. They were scooped up all at once in a large net along with a large amount of sand and dumped into a bag with the sand on top of them and very little water. The plastic bag was not placed inside a paper bag which is normal practice to reduce stress.By the time we had made the 20 minute drive home, I noticed one of the fish was suffering from shock, lying on it's side and finding it difficult to move.Whether the fish dies or not, I will not be back to this place. I would've expected more from such a reputable shop.Edit: the fish did die. It seemed to have internal damage from when the sales assistant squashed it against the glass with the net while lifting it out of the tank.Pictures of the sand in the bag and the damage to the fish attached.
September 09 · Fionnuala MohanI had a fish tank disaster/emergency. Had just scaped an old 120 litre 2nd hand tank and the next day it leaked. I contacted Holly out of working hours and she stayed with me every step of the way. Had a brand new tank set up and rescaped in no time. Hard to beat the personal touch and to see someone who truly cares about about their trade.
