My cat Bob was in a very bad way last night, and his breathing was very laboured and raspy as he has severe nasal issues.The vet said he could have a tumour in his face and could pass anytime as he also hadn't eaten or drank anything for days.He also hadn't had his toilet business for a good while either. As you can imagine I was very worried and upset as my boy is 14 and I've had him 12 years and desperately didn't want to lose him.The vet gave him a some injections, and by a miracle he seems to have come around this morning and ate some meat.He still hasn't had a bathroom break yet, but hopefully he will soon.I can't thank Yorkshire vets enough as I seem to have my Bob back.Kind regards and many many thanks again.Linda Francis

This has been an incredibly painful time for me, and I feel deeply let down by the care and support we received in his final days.As someone who struggles with anxiety, I was already feeling vulnerable when I brought him in. From the outset, I felt overwhelmed with information and was then quoted around £3,000 for treatment that, at the time, I hoped might help him recover. Unfortunately, a routine blood test revealed that his kidneys were failing, and I was told the kindest option would be to put him to sleep.The financial pressure added immense stress to an already heartbreaking situation. Although credit options were mentioned, I was not in the right frame of mind to discuss payment. As a loyal and paying customer of Yorkshire Vets, I would never avoid paying for my pet’s care—but in that moment, I was distraught, and I needed compassion more than financial discussion.What upset me most was what happened during my final goodbye. While my cat was still alive and on the table, I was handed a list of urns to choose from. This felt incredibly insensitive and premature. I wasn’t ready to talk about cremation while he was still with me—it added to my distress at an already traumatic time.I also felt rushed when saying goodbye. The practice was busy, filled with other clients and happy pets, which made the experience even more painful. I believe that in situations like this, a private or quiet space should be available for owners going through such a devastating moment. It would make a world of difference to grieving pet owners.To add to my upset, a few weeks before this tragic day, I had taken my cat for his routine health check-up at the Birkenshaw branch. I had always trusted this branch and previously had positive experiences there. However, during this visit, we were moved to another room due to an emergency, which I completely understand. Unfortunately, the vet seemed rushed and distracted, likely because of the ongoing emergency.At that appointment, I expressed concern about my cat’s recent weight loss and unusual behaviour. I even asked if he might be constipated. The vet checked him over and told me he was fine. But within days, we had to treat him at home for an ear infection, which we now know was connected to his kidney failure. I can’t help but feel that I wasn’t properly listened to, and that a blood test at that point might have identified his condition earlier, giving us more time to prepare or possibly even act sooner.I am heartbroken by the loss of my cat and I carry a lot of sadness and guilt about how his final days unfolded. I truly believe that more could have been done, both in terms of earlier diagnosis and in providing a more compassionate end-of-life experience. For these reasons, I’ve decided to change my veterinary provider.I hope you take this feedback seriously, as no pet owner should have to go through such an upsetting experience without feeling supported and heard.
Jun 18, 2025 · Jimmy ArmstrongMy vet practice is in Dewsbury but last week my jack Russel Ruby who had suffered with dementia for a while suddenly deteriorated quite quickly over the weekend. I phoned my practice but didn't have any appointments available so I was put in touch with Yorkshire vet at Thornbury. As a family we took Ruby to have her put to sleep as it was the kindest thing for her. The team there were really nice and explained everything we even got to choose her urn for her ashes. We got time to spend her last moments and that was much appreciated especially by my son who we got her for and had spent 20 happy years. Thank you all from Ruby's family.

The vet was very thorough and explained everything clearly I was very pleased with the care my dog received. She was given some painkillers and we I left feeling happy.

My dog was critical and was touch and go. They expertly accepted the transfer and I have to say the care my dog got was 1 class. They identified what was wrong with my dog where my vets failed and treated him. They called me and kept me in the loop at all times and never gave out false hope they was straight to the point at every junction. My dog after the overnight stay was treated to well that he was able to come home the next day. He's still recovering now but making huge progress each day. Pricing isn't too bad ether for such a 1st class care team and would highly recommend
