Archway Veterinary Practice has built a strong reputation over decades, with specific veterinarians like Mr. Dixon being highlighted by clients for their exceptional skills and caring demeanour, particularly in complex or sensitive situations. Beyond general practice, their investment in specialised services like physiotherapy underscores their commitment to holistic pet health. While local practices sometimes have policies regarding emergency care for non-registered clients, understanding their general approach to client relationships and emergency provision is key for those in the area. We aim to present a balanced view, drawing on available public information and customer experiences, to help you make an informed decision about your pet's care in East Yorkshire.

The established presence of Mr. Dixon in both Snaith and Goole/Howden, as noted by a long-standing client, further indicates a commitment to serving a broad geographical area. This strategic placement ensures that a trusted veterinary service is within practical reach for many households in the East Yorkshire region, reducing travel time and stress, especially in urgent situations.
Archway Veterinary Practice is a dedicated small animal practice that offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, aiming to provide a high standard of care for pets from routine check-ups to advanced treatments. - Vaccinations and Preventative Health: Essential vaccinations for dogs, cats, and rabbits, along with advice and products for flea, tick, and worm control.
- Neutering and Spaying: Surgical procedures to prevent unwanted litters and offer health benefits for pets.
- Routine and Advanced Surgery: Performing a wide array of surgical procedures, from common operations to more complex soft tissue and potentially orthopaedic surgeries, with the Howden centre acting as their hospitalisation hub for major operations.
- Dental Care: Comprehensive dental services, including scaling, polishing, and extractions, crucial for oral health.

- Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy: A dedicated physiotherapy centre offering specialist rehabilitation services, including hydrotherapy (e.g., treadmill), laser treatment, and acupuncture, as highlighted by multiple positive client reviews. This is particularly beneficial for pets recovering from injury, surgery, or managing chronic conditions like arthritis.

Archway Veterinary Practice is distinguished by several key features and highlights that resonate strongly with its clientele, making it a highly valued local resource:
- Experienced and Compassionate Vets: Mr. Dixon is frequently singled out in reviews for his exceptional knowledge, skill, and compassionate approach, particularly with long-term conditions and challenging situations. His ability to build trust and provide excellent care is a recurring theme. The team as a whole is described as professional, caring, and dedicated.
- Long-Standing Reputation: Established 39 years ago (as per 2023 information) in Howden with branch clinics in Snaith, Goole, and Brough, the practice has a proven track record of consistent, high-quality care, fostering trust within the community for decades. Many clients have been with them for "many, many years."
- Dedicated Physiotherapy Centre: The presence of an adjoining physiotherapy department with qualified veterinary physiotherapists (like Amy and Hazel, as mentioned in reviews) for hydrotherapy, laser treatment, and acupuncture is a significant highlight. This specialist rehabilitation care is crucial for recovery from injuries, operations (e.g., ACL issues), and managing chronic conditions, showing a commitment to comprehensive pet well-being beyond standard medical interventions.
- Personalised and Consistent Care: As a relatively smaller practice that is independently owned, Archway often provides a more personal approach, allowing for consistent case-follow-up by the same veterinary surgeon. This continuity of care is highly valued by owners who appreciate the deep understanding of their pet's history.
- "Outstanding Facilities": Descriptions suggest a well-equipped practice, with the Howden centre acting as the main hospitalisation facility for major operations, offering excellent support for more intensive care needs.
- Emergency Services with In-House Vets: Their commitment to providing their own 24-hour emergency care with their own vets and nurses on-site overnight means pets requiring hospitalisation do not need to be transferred to an external emergency service, providing continuity and comfort for both pets and owners.
- Client-Centric Approach: While a recent review pointed to a specific issue with an emergency for a non-local client, the overall feedback from long-term clients consistently praises their willingness to "fit us in as quickly as possible" and their general helpfulness and approachability. This suggests their primary focus is on their registered client base.

Archway Reviews
Mr Dixon was recommended to me years ago in Snaith - he was always so good with Tommy and his ear issues. Now 7 years on I went to see him again in Goole/ Howden as Tommy had a nasty swelling on his ear - Mr Dixon was superb and Tommy’s ear is healed - thank you 🤩
Jan 14, 2024 · Ann MellingPhoned this practice last week when our elderly dog suddenly collapsed. We aren't local...this was the nearest practice to where we were. The bloke I spoke to didn't want to know, even when I said it was an emergency. They only deal with 'their own clients and their emergencies" I was told. Absolutely no compassion...I foolishly thought Vets were supposed to help animals. Therefore cannot recommend this practice. Can recommend The Dam Veterinary Practice in Selby, who saw us without hesitation and were fantastic. Our beloved Harry had to be put to sleep but at least he had a Vet team who cared about him at the end.
Aug 12, 2024 · Jill MolyneuxReally lovely vet.Thinks outside the box to think of ways to examine the animal.Explains everything and listens to your concern regarding the welfare of your pet.Mr Dixon was recommended to us and I'm pleased we went to see him with our 🐕
