Animal Trust Vets CIC - Dewsbury Reviews
My old dog Kai always had a hard time at the vets. We only visited if absolutely necessary due to stress. Meaning it had been quite some time. Thankfully he’s physically been a very fit and health dog. He had an episode one evening but came round and toddled off down the garden. the next morning it became clear at almost 14yrs there was an issue. due to his age and sudden rear end lameness, we decided we would not put him through testing, medication etc. and an end of life appointment would be the kinder thing to do. Due to him not liking the vets, we decided to change vets for this occasion. So that he wouldn’t be stressed out and would be more interested in being somewhere new. Dewsbury were very understanding on the phone when making the appointment. We got Kai’s records sent from our usual vet. On the day (4th July) he walked in (assisted) and was excited to see new people and even dogs (he never really liked dogs). There was no anxiety which was a big concern as I didn’t want his stressed in his final moments.Staff were very empathetic. The room we were put in was clean and comforting. The was a large comfy mat with blanket for Kai to lay on. The vet was lovely. Kai was sedated before the procedure as he hated his legs touching. Then came the time to say goodbye. We were able to hold him throughout and he passed very quickly and peacefully. He was definitely ready. We were given as long as we wanted to stay with him after. During which we did our own paw prints. Trimmed his nails (a real struggle usually) and being a husky x kelpie in heavy shed, brushed out some of his fur to have put inside a teddy. It was heartbreaking saying goodbye to our family member of 12yrs since rescue. But was very dignified and respectful. The care from staff made it that little easier. We chose private cremation and I collected Kai and brought him home Monday 14th. The staff member who brought him to me, carried the box containing his ashes like he was made of glass. She was so gentle and sweet. Thank you to everyone involved. The house is so quiet without Kai’s kelpie yip, despite having 3 more dogs (who are coping better than expected). I will certainly be using Dewsbury when the inevitable comes round again.
Jul 16, 2025 · Emma ColtonIncredible service, I phoned this morning asking for a same day appointment if possible as my cat had developed, some sores on her back. I was given an appointment for the evening, however I wasn't asked to bring in her medical history, so when checking in, I was initially told she can’t be seen without it. I informed them her medical records were not in my name, so wouldn’t be able to obtain them, they were very understanding and allowed me to see a vet. The vet was great, explained everything and didn’t judge me for being a tad overly emotional 😂 and was great with my cat, wouldn’t go anywhere else now. Also, was expecting a huge bill, however, I was very pleased with what it came to.
Jul 02, 2025 · Kirsty TaylorThey're amazing, sorted my dog out. And he enjoyed himself. Very patient too. I'd been up all night worrying, zero sleep. I arrived and my appointment had been accidentally booked for day's later. But my dog had an urgent issue. I was stressing, ill admit, a little bit grumpy. The lady still treated me with respect and kindness but got me back in check too. Which i always appreciate. Sometimes i need it. No messing around, she sorted it. I was seeing a vet within 20 mins. And it was far from being a life threatening issue so they didn't have to rush. It just all went smoothly. Thanks, especially the ladies behind the counter. Patience of Saints.
Jul 15, 2025 · Narrowgoat21 -scoutVery happy with animal trust. I chose the referral as they do mutiple tests, scans, blood tests, till they find what's wrong all for a bundle price of £519 + meds. Would of cost well over a thousand with my usual vet.I am now going to join their plan for £19.50 per month as the fees for the drugs are dramatically reduced, includes blood tests, prescriptions, consultations, vaccinations and worming. A vets that has reasonable prices is needed every where.
Jul 04, 2025 · LisaI would highly recommend John (the vet). He was great with my dog, very understanding amd explained everything perfectly.I would not recommend the customer service.I was once 12 minutes late for an appointment due to really bad traffic getting into Dewsbury and they wouldn't see my dog. He is really nervous seeing the vets anyway and they made me come back a 2nd time, due to being a little late. The next time I came to the vets, I arrived on time, checked in and took my seat. 20 minutes later they called my name and asked if my dog had ever had any history with the vets.I told them that he had been coming since being a pup. They then told me that their system had messed up and created our dog twice on the system and the record that we had booked on had no medical record attached. They then told me that they might see my dog, if I'm lucky. They told me that it was caused by registering for a visit on their website.I told the receptionist that my wife booked the visit over the phone.I said that it wasn't my fault that their system messed up and the receptionist just said, we'll see if we can fit you in, as if i was to blame. No empathy at all.Over 1 hour 15 minutes later they said that they would see my dog.The vets do a fantastic job, but receptionists represent the vets.
