Ribble Vets Penwortham Reviews
I recently moved to Ribble Vets and I am so glad I did. I have been really impressed with their service so far. My dog unfortunately has an eye ulcer and also suffers with nervous aggression, he does not make things easy for the team. Sarah the vet treating him has been amazing and really accommodating to his needs. Natalie from the pet behavioural team has also been great at working out the best ways for my dog to receive the treatment he needs. The reception staff are efficient and the phone is always answered promptly when I have called. The vet nurses have been brilliant and I’m so thankful to them for helping me get the eye drops in. This is the first vets I’ve been to where I feel they genuinely care, work together as a team and want the best for my dog. I can’t thank them enough. I trust them completely and I’m sure my dog's eye will be on the mend soon.
Jun 20, 2025 · amy waddingtonMy cockerpoo puppy suffered a fractured foot in February, my son had been told this practice was good so we took him there. He was initially treated and experience/communication seemed good. However, we were immediately pressured into a £4800 surgery - that after researching apparently has a low success rate in puppies. 6/7 weeks post fracture, with my dog being energetic, seemingly healing well with no pain with re-splinting, re-bandaging weekly (with sedation), at a re-splint and re-bandage appointment, I was told I had the following options:1) surgery (with external frame) with low success rates2) amputation3) continued splinting (told this will not work)4) take the splint and bandage away and see how he goes onHe was re-splinted and re-bandaged on 4th April 2025. I then received a telephone call telling me that the ONLY option was amputation. The person totally refuted what had been said during the appointment. After this re-splinting and re-bandage my now 7 month old puppy declined RAPIDLY. I decided to seek a second opinion at RUFFORD VETS on 9th April 2025. I asked Ribble Vets to send all records over immediately for his appointment 9th April. They failed to send any x-rays.At Rufford Vets I was told that the splint and bandage applied on Friday 4th April had been so poorly administered that it had caused considerable injury to my dogs paw pads, so much so he needed antibiotics and pain relief (after not requiring any for 5 weeks). The vets at RUFFORD were so shocked at the way the splint had been applied and the harm caused they took photographs. Nor did he need any sedation (he is a very placid, well behaved dog). My dog's fractured foot had been forced upwards with zero padding in the splint. There was no way this could have helped his fracture heal.RUFFORD vets took their own x-rays. No need for immediate amputation or surgery. Just poor care in the use of splints by RIBBLE VETS PENWORTHAM. Which has cost almost £1800 since 17th February.I completely agree with other reviews which state that this may well be a shiny new looking vets with modern equipment, it is nothing but a money making machine. So much so it will cause further harm to animals to make that money.DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE FOR YOUR PETS.
Apr 09, 2025 · Vikki Allana DoddAVOID! this practice. We have been treated absolutely disgustingly by the staff here and would advise you to go anywhere else where they would actually care for your animal and not be focused on how much money they can get from you!.So many issues we have experienced as below:1 - we had to unfortunately have our cat put to sleep, whilst this was happening all you could hear outside the room was laughing, giggling staff messing around very dignified end whilst your holding your dead pet and crying.2- now I opted to phone my insurance company and have them sort the bill out immediately as I was too distressed to travel the 40 minutes back and pay them when I was in a better frame of mind. Mistake that was we were treated like criminals how dare I use my insurance in the event of a death, how dare I not immediately rush back and pay in full on my card (I had the funds that wasn't the issue just that I used insurance) now I contacted the lady that took payment for our cats cremation that was all paid for within 24hrs of everything happening, imagine my disgust when a simple email asking do you know when his ashes would be back was met with an email stating they haven't received payment for his treatmet yet ? (they didn't respond to the insurance company so the payment could be made)3- trying to get his ashes. So to clarify on MULTIPLE OCCASIONS I was told because I have used insurance i wouldn't be allowed his ashes they would keep him and hold them until they received payment, now this was insinuated many times to me via email, phone and in person! This is a practice i am assured by their manager they do not carry out, they do not hold ashes for full payment of treatments LIES !!!4. I eventually get them to agree to let me have his ashes but not before they act like they are doing me a favour by giving me my dead cat back, we arranged an appointment to collect him at 4.30 I believe imagine my horror when I get to the practice tell them I am there to collect my cats ashes as booked in earlier to do so to once again be met by a rude response from the reception who didn't even listen or let me speak, loudly went "ohhhh your paying via insurance" walked to the back of the reception and loudly whispering to the other lady there basically saying she's not paid us directly so she can't have his ashes! What a shock she eventually comes back and just bluntly says go sit over there must have realised I had an appointment that was on her screen. Waited ages sobbing in the waiting room I asked for a complaints email receptionist smirked when I asked and handed me a slip of paper. Finally got his ashes that night after waiting about 30 mins to past my pre arranged appointment to get him back.5 - don't expect an ounce of sympathy from this practice or compassion, just a half arsed apology of we don't do that despite having email proof of this conversation and excuses as to why we treated the way we were. It happened multiple times where they communicated they would release his ashes until payment was made so they are liars.Avoid them if you can go to any other emergency vet you can get to. I could write so much more on the way we were treated by staff and there manager who has "dealt" with my complaint and concerns to simply be told they don't hold ashes and that's that.Thank you so much to your useless practice for causing us extra distress, upset and heartache in our worst of times really did make the christmas period so wonderful. Would give you no stars but that's not an option.Attached proof they hold ashes from the email I was sent by accounts
Jan 02, 2025 · Chloe WoodfordBrilliant vets, nurses and reception team. Been coming for many years. Keep up the good work
Apr 01, 2025 · vicki chadwickAMAZING :-)10pm bank holiday weekend and I turned up with a large male deer who had unfortunately been involved in a RTC.Both Rowen and Emily went above and beyond that night, and where most vets would turn a large animal away- they stepped up! Their professionalism, empathy and overall care saved his life and thankfully he was able to be released a few days later. What wonderful people, and a wonderful vets.Would highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to take my domestic pet to them. Thank you again for your kindness.
