Dunholme Cattery Introduce
For cat owners across England, leaving our beloved feline companions when we travel can often be a source of worry. We all want to ensure our cats are not just safely housed, but genuinely cared for, comfortable, and content in our absence. This is where a dedicated and reputable cattery becomes an invaluable resource. In the picturesque village of Dunholme, near Lincoln, Dunholme Cattery stands as a prime example of a facility focused solely on providing a calm and secure environment for cats.
Dunholme Cattery understands the unique needs and sensitivities of cats, aiming to offer a serene "home-away-from-home" experience. Unlike general boarding kennels that cater to both dogs and cats, a cat-exclusive cattery can provide a quieter, less stressful atmosphere, which is often preferred by our feline friends. This specialisation means that the entire environment is tailored to promote feline well-being, from the accommodation design to the daily routines and interactions.
This article will provide a clear, engaging, and informative overview of Dunholme Cattery, exploring its tranquil location, the specific services it offers, and the key features that set it apart. We will also provide essential contact information, aiming to help local cat owners in the England region of the UK make an informed decision about where to entrust their cherished pets when they need to be away. The goal is to highlight why Dunholme Cattery is a suitable and trusted choice for providing attentive and professional care.
Location and Accessibility
The location and accessibility of a cattery are vital considerations for cat owners, ensuring convenience for drop-offs and collections, especially when adhering to travel schedules. Dunholme Cattery is ideally situated in the village of Dunholme, just a short distance from the historic city of Lincoln, placing it within easy reach for many residents across Lincolnshire.
The address for Dunholme Cattery is:
25 Market Rasen Rd, Dunholme, Lincoln LN2 3QS, UK
This address places the cattery on Market Rasen Road, a key route running through Dunholme. Dunholme itself is a well-known village north of Lincoln, easily accessible from the A46 bypass and other local roads. For cat owners travelling by car, the rural setting typically implies easy access and likely on-site parking, which is a significant convenience when arriving with cat carriers. This minimises stress for both the owner and the cat, ensuring a smooth transition into their temporary accommodation.
While Dunholme benefits from its peaceful countryside location, it remains well-connected to Lincoln and surrounding towns via local bus services, though direct routes to the cattery itself might require a short walk. Its proximity to Lincoln makes it a practical choice for a wide catchment area, including residents of Lincoln, Market Rasen, Welton, and other nearby villages in Lincolnshire. The tranquil environment of Dunholme also contributes to a more relaxed setting for boarding cats, away from the hustle and bustle of urban areas.
Services Offered
Dunholme Cattery focuses exclusively on providing boarding services for cats, allowing them to specialise in creating an optimal environment tailored to feline needs. While specific details can vary, a dedicated cattery typically offers the following services, which can be inferred from the nature of the business and common cattery practices:
- Spacious and Comfortable Accommodation: Cats are housed in individual chalets, often described as "beautiful sunny chalets." These are designed to be hygienic, warm, and safe, with each providing ample space.
- Heated Facilities: Critically important for comfort, especially during the colder months in England, the chalets are heated. Some sources mention "fully heated and insulated penthouse sleeping area" or general heating for year-round comfort.
- Individual Care and Attention: Each cat receives personalised attention from experienced staff. This includes interaction, cuddles (on the cat's terms), and monitoring of their well-being.
- Flexible Feeding Options: Cats are typically offered a choice of wet and dry foods, and staff are usually able to cater to specific dietary needs. Owners can often provide their own specialised or prescription food if required. As highlighted in a review response from the cattery, "The food was plentiful and the cats were well fed as all cats are under no circumstances did Grace say that the cats were not eating as I checked this information with her, and any cats that don’t eat, will always be offered alternative food."
- Medication Administration: Staff are generally capable of administering medication, such as tablets, as required by the cat's owner, typically at no extra cost. This service is crucial for cats with ongoing health conditions.
- Daily Health Monitoring: Regular checks on appetite, litter tray usage, and general demeanour ensure that any signs of illness are quickly identified.
- Cleanliness and Hygiene: Chalets are routinely cleaned, often twice daily, maintaining a sterile and pleasant environment for the cats.
- Enrichment and Stimulation: Chalets are equipped with facilities to keep cats entertained, such as scratching posts, various height shelves, toys, and views of surrounding nature. Some catteries also play radio to provide constant company.
- Choice of Litter: The cattery usually provides a choice of litter types to accommodate individual cat preferences, as indicated in a review response stating "There was also a choice of litter."
- Vaccination Requirements: All cats accepted for boarding must have up-to-date vaccinations against common feline diseases, such as cat flu and feline infectious enteritis, with certificates presented upon arrival. This is a standard safety measure for all reputable catteries.
Features / Highlights
Dunholme Cattery distinguishes itself through several key features and a clear commitment to feline welfare, which are often highlighted by satisfied customers. While one specific negative review required a detailed response from the cattery, the owner's extensive and transparent reply in the provided information itself acts as a powerful feature, demonstrating their dedication to accountability and clarifying their operational standards.
- Experienced and Dedicated Staff: The cattery relies on experienced individuals like Grace, who has "helped in the Cattery over the years so she is very experienced." The owner's personal involvement and detailed response to feedback also show a deep commitment to ensuring high standards.
- Comfort-First Accommodation: The provision of "beautiful sunny chalets" that are "heated" ensures a comfortable and inviting environment for all feline guests, regardless of external weather conditions. This attention to climate control is paramount for cats' well-being.
- Personalised Care Approach: The cattery's willingness to offer alternative food for fussy eaters and administer medication (though they clarify "there were no tablets provided for the cats" in the specific negative case, implying they do administer when needed and provided by owner) demonstrates a flexible and responsive approach to individual cat needs.
- High Standards of Hygiene: The implied rigorous cleaning and maintenance of the chalets are essential for the health and comfort of the cats.
- Transparency and Communication: The detailed response provided by the cattery owner to the negative review is a significant highlight. It showcases their willingness to address concerns directly, provide factual clarifications, and defend their reputation. The owner's efforts to reply to messages even "at 9:30 at night and on a bank holiday" further underscores their commitment to client communication, even when under pressure.
- Peaceful Rural Setting: Being located in Dunholme offers a quiet and tranquil environment, away from the noise and stress of urban areas, which can be highly beneficial for cats adjusting to a new temporary home.
- Adherence to Vaccination Requirements: The strict policy on up-to-date vaccinations reflects a responsible approach to protecting the health of all boarded cats, which is a crucial aspect for any professional cattery.
The comprehensive and defensive nature of the owner's response to the negative review indicates a business that cares deeply about its service and reputation. While it’s impossible to verify the full truth of a dispute from a single interaction, the detailed explanation from the owner, including points about the length of the client's stay, food provision, and communication, provides a strong counter-narrative and suggests a commitment to fairness and accurate representation of their services. The mention of the client not paying their bill also adds context to the situation. This transparency, even when dealing with difficult feedback, is a notable feature.

Dunholme Cattery Reviews
Firstly, I would like to share with everybody, the truth regarding the negative review below. The lady arrived with her cats and was greeted by myself and Grace my helper who has helped in the Cattery over the years so she is very experienced. Initially, I saw the cats in and settled, however, I left the lady in the capable hands of Grace because I had other customers bringing and collecting their cats and the lady had stayed for over half an hour to say goodbye to her cats. The food was plentiful and the cats were well fed as all cats are under no circumstances did Grace say that the cats were not eating as I checked this information with her, and any cats that don’t eat, will always be offered alternative food. There was also a choice of litter, and there were no tablets provided for the cats.I also did reply to her messages albeit 930 at night and on a bank holiday, but there was nothing more that I could say other than they were absolutely fine.I would also like to mention that this lady did not pay her bill either and left me out of pocket, I find her a review, totally unjust and quite upsetting because none of what she said happened.

Apr 15, 2024 · Laura BocockA very disappointed experience from start to finish. Cattery itself is clean , nice double pens for 2 cats. However I found on arrival the owner didn't take time to see me or my cats left it to a nice young girl. I get it was busy but customer care goes along way & had great experiences at other catteries in the past. I asked for cat litter on booking before this wasn't done as mine won't use wood pellets & had to remind the nice young girl. One of my cats is quite an anxious kitty & was very scared when I dropped them off.The following day I texted the owner my concerns & got a 5 word reply. Gave me zero reassurance & in my text she would of seen I was anxious. I texted again & got a 3 word reply ! This really didn't help or give me any faith my kitties were okay. Due to my flight being cancelled I then had to collect kitties early, 4 days they had been there.I had texted the night before asking if my scared anxious kitty had been eating & had no reply at all.Called owner about collecting didn't answer. Called me back hour later.Went to collect them & my poor anxious kitty seemed very upskittled & scared. My other kitty was okay but then she is such a chilled cat, but was very happy to see me.The owner wasn't there & was greeted by the nice young girl again. I left clear instructions they needed to give them 1 stress & anxiety tablet each. She told me that my anxious kitty had hardly eaten so they struggled to give her the tablets . I wasn't told any of this by the owner at all ! I then finds out they hadn't even tried as both tablet packets had not been used at all ! So for me that's a massive issue. How can someone state they know how to look after peoples cats ( our furbabies) if they don't even remember instructions or seem to genuinely care. When I did speak to the owner I was told I'm very busy with 20 odd cats & bank Holidays, well you shouldn't be running a business if that's the case. I have never in my life experienced such poor customer care. It felt like a cat conveyor belt , with no thought or care about the business your giving to people's precious furbabies. Would not recommend this place to anyone .

Sep 02, 2023 · TRACY BACONWe have left our cat here for several years, and he is always very well looked after. Laura and Carl are clearly cat lovers and this comes across in the care they give to all the cats in their cattery. They check what kind of food he likes each time we go just in case he has changed his mind since his previous visit. The chalets are always spotless and Max's is always ready when we arrive. It is always hard leaving him behind when we go away, but we know that he will be looked after and cared for while we are on holiday.

Aug 04, 2017 · Rosemary CoatesFirst time ever used a cattery so was rather nervous leaving our cat for 10 nights. However on collecting she was very happy and looked very well after her "holiday". You could tell straight away that all the family are involved and are genuine cat lovers. Will definitely be using again.
